6. Переклад поштової адреси

В науково-технічній літературі іноді вживаються поштові адреси (наприклад, авторів наукових статей, підприємств, редакцій журналів тощо). Слід мати на увазі, що адреса англійською мовою подається у порядку еле­ментів, зворотному порядку елементів в українській адресі, а тому при пе­рекладі необхідно змінювати порядок елементів адреси у відповідності із нормами, існуючими у культурі мови перекладу:

Для правильного перекладу адрес необхідно знати також правила передачі назв та власних імен (див. відповідні розділи посібника) та певні скорочення, зокрема, назв штатів США, графств Великобританії, провін­цій Канади тощо (останні можна знайти у словниках скорочень та окремих перекладних словниках).
