Leadership.

I most admire such Business leaders as Carly Fiorina (Chief Executive of Hewlett-Packard 1999), Bill Gates-a founder of Microsoft, who left Harvard University without a degree and now he is one of the richest people in the world, Margaret Thatcher –who was called the “iron lady” and who was the British Prime minister in 1979-1990. Her policies transformed the UK economy, emphasizing the importance of the free market and privatization of the public sector. All this people are very successful and known all over the world. All this people have had great business ideas and have seen it through to fruition.

Leadership is very important nowadays because the role of the business leader is to display values, to give sense of direction ( it means farsighted strategic planning, vision of the future development ), to use distributed leadership, to ‘scan’ outside the company ( to be informed about market environment), to ensure that the company is “tied in” with the customers (met the customers expectations and needs), to motivate the staff. That is why the qualities of the efficient business leaders are :communicative, open for new ideas, sometimes even ruthless, because business is a very cruel game, thoughtful, driven, charismatic, motivating and accessible. Business leaders create business idea and they see it through to fruition. But what is the difference between leaders and managers? As said Jack Welsh the Chief Executive of General Electric: I never associate passion with the word “manager” and I’ve never seen a leader without it .Leaders are informal, they are strait with people, they make a religion out of being accessible.

So the future will not belong to managers or those who can make the numbers dance. The world will belong to passionate, driven leaders – people who not only have enormous amounts of energy but who can energize those whom they lead.

To be a great leader you should motivate your employees. Motivation means giving people dignity and voice, encouraging them to reach their full potential. Leaders motivate employees with the help of good salaries, benefits, medical care, they should show that they trust people who work for them and they shouldn’t breath down their neck and they shouldn’t stifle the initiative.

People should be sure that they work for a company that has a reason for being, that they can identify with and fell good about. And it is the work of the leader to do this.
