Практикум по английскому языку составлен старшим преподавателем кафедры иностранных языков И.В. Зайцевой для студентов 1-2 курсов всех специальностей сельскохозяйственных вузов.

Материал учебного пособия подобран не только с учетом профессиональных интересов студентов, но и с точки зрения его новизны и интереса, что способствует мотивации студентов и стимулирует их к работе над иностранным языком.

Автором учитывался коммуникативный подход к обучению различным видам речевой деятельности.

Данный практикум содержит тексты и лексико - грамматические упражнения, направленные на развитие и совершенствование навыков устной речи, чтения и понимания специальной литературы.

Структура пособия позволяет использовать его как для аудиторных занятий, так и для самостоятельного изучения языка.

Может быть рекомендован студентам аграрных высших учебных заведений заочной формы обучения в качестве дополнительного материала к основному курсу.

“About my family and myself”

My name is Linda Jackson. I am eighteen years old. I study at Oxford University as a medical student. Now I am a first-year student and I really like being a student. I am from England.

I was born on April 7, 1990 in the village Jimpley Stroke. It is in the Avon Valley, ten miles away from Bath.

My family is not very large. We are five: my parents, my elder brother Robert, my younger sister Ann and me. My parents come from quite large families (my mother is one of the six children and my father is one of four), so my brother, my sister and myself have many aunts, uncles and cousins.

My father’s name is John, he is 51 years old. My father is a farmer, he is always busy and he likes his job very much.

My mother, Helen, is 48 years old. She is a housewife, she runs the house and looks after the children.

My elder brother, Robert, is 24. He is not married. He is a veterinarian; he helps father with the animals. There is a horse, a cow, two pigs and four sheep on our farm.

Ann, my younger sister, is a schoolgirl. She is eight. She helps mother about the house and in the garden. Ann is interested in farming and wants to study agriculture at University. Ann and Robert are great pet lovers.

As for me, I am interested in medicine. From my childhood, I wanted to become a doctor. I hope my dream will come true, if I graduate from the University. I like my future speciality. I am fond of reading books and journals. My hobby is dancing.

All members of my family are good friends. We are happy to be together.
