I am glad to have an opportunity to talk with you. Can you tell me a few things about the Universities in your country? Certainly. What would you like to know? First, do you have National Universities? No, we don’t. Each state controls and supports at least one University. The National Government gives no direct financial aid to these state schools. Can students go to the University free of charge? No, everyone must pay for tuition. And is the education free in your country? No, at our Universities students have to pay for taking exams, for attending lectures, for borrowing books from the library. Do your students get a state grant? Only few students get it, so they have to work to pay for studies. Many young people are unable to graduate from the Universities in this country as the tuition at some of them is too high, especially at Oxford and Cambridge. We have the same problem. A student of the George Washington University for example is to pay about $ 20000 for one year of studies. Besides, very often the University graduates have to look for a job and can’t find any in the field of their specialization. Sometimes our students have to face similar problems.
