1 0 8 WEEK 11
1 Warm up
Ask “How do I get to the bank?”, and “How do I get to the post office?” (pp.50–1 and pp.68–9)
What’s the Italian for “passport”? (pp.54–5)
How do you ask “What time is it?” (pp.30–1)
Le poste e la banca
Post office and bank
There aren’t as many ATMs in Italy as in the US. But in tourist resorts there is usually a “bureau de change,” il cambio. In Italy, when withdrawing money or paying with a card, it is common to be asked to enter a PIN number instead of signing.
2 Words to remember: mail

1 Warm up
What is the Italian for “doesn’t work”? (pp.60–1)
What’s the Italian for “today” and “tomorrow”? (pp.28–9)
Riparazioni
Repairs
You can combine the Italian words on these pages with the vocabulary you learned in week 10 to help you explain basic problems and cope with arranging most repairs. When setting up building work or a repair, it’s a good idea to agree on the price and method of payment in advance.
