Advantages of Home Schooling

By Kris Koonar

I. Many parents have lost confid…nce 1( A - i, B – a, C – e, D - u) in the public and private education s…stem 2(A - y, В - і, С – е, D - u). In addition to the reality of overcrowded classrooms, unqualified teachers, outdated textbooks and learning mat…rials 3(A – I, B – y, C – e, D - a), parents are worried about the safety of their children. Children can come into contact with other students who may be negative influences. To combat some negative asso…iations 4(A - s, B – c, C - t, D - z) with public schools, many parents enrolled their children in private schools. After similar outcomes the options were slim and now, parents have begun to embra…e 5(A - c, B – s, C – k, D- z ) the option of home schooling their children at a higher rate than ever before.

II. There are many 6(A - benefit, B - advantages, C – preference, D – profit)to home schooling. The first is obviously piece of mind. You know and have 7(A - control, B - check, C – supervise, D - verify) over the learning environment. Besides, the option of blaming the educational system for its shortcomings is eliminated and your child's academic 8(A - progress, B - development, C – advance, D - upgrowth) is in your hands. In addition, the home environment is usually, believe it or not, more 9(A - corresponding , B - adequate, C – respective, D - satisfactory) than learning in a school. Schools are overcrowded, noisy, frequently poorly run, and aggressive or disruptive students are oftentimes, allowed to get away with terrible behavior due to lax laws designed to 10(A - «defend» , B - «guard», C - «protect», D – «shield») the rights of students. Furthermore, as a parent, you can choose the teachers you want.

III. If you 11(A - want, B - will want, C – wanted, D - wants) to provide instruction yourself, that is your choice. Public schools 12(A - had mandated, B - mandated, C - have been mandated, D – have mandated) to leave religion out of the classroom and, as stated earlier, the environment 13(A - had provided, B - provided, C - were providing, D - provides) by private schools has not proven to be a panacea. Home schooling 14(A - has, B - have, C – had, D – will have) many advantages. When you 15(A - had made, B - made, C – make, D - makes) your decision on the subject you should have a plan for success. Home schooling is not something you should rush into - it is a commitment that has to be followed through.

Teaching Math - How to Make it Interesting

By Ned Dagostino

Article Source: http://www.totalesl.com

I. Math is scary. If you don't b…lieve 1(A - y, B - i, C – a, D - e) me just ask your kids. Or if you are a teacher, ask your students. Or better still; think back to when you were a kid. Unless you were one of those who are nat…rally 2(A - e, B - a, C – u, D - i) good with numbers, you'll have to admit that it was a bit int…midating 3(A - e, B - i, C – a, D - y) at times. So now if you are teaching math as either a school teacher or a home schooler, you have a pretty good idea what your kids are going through. This also applies if you are just a parent helping your kid with his or her homework. So how do you get through to the children? Well the first step is to make it interesting, which of co…rse 4(A - o, B - a, C – u, D -e), is much easier said than done. If a child find a subject boring (any subject), then it will be difficult for them to learn. Your job is to overcome this ch…llenge 5(A - a, B - e, C – i, D - u).

II. Sometimes it is necessary to go back to the 6(A - launch, B - start, C – beginning, D - origination) Depending on where you child or children are with their math work, you may need to take one step back before you can take two steps forward. They learn when they can see something. 7(A - Incentives, B - Motives, C – Inducements, D - reasons) are very useful so perhaps give a small prize to the winner. And maybe another prize to the student who seems to have 8(A - improved, B - ameliorated, C – amended, D - meliorated) the most from the last time you played. That way, even the brightest math student doesn't wind up 9(A - victory, B - triumph, C – winning, D - success) every time you play. And the kids who 10(A - fight, B - struggle, C – battle, D- contest) more will still have an incentive to try and get better.

III. Remember that anything you 11(A - could, B - can, C – can’t, D – couldn’t) do to make the class interactive 12(A - will make, B - would make, C –makes, D - make) it easier for the kids. It's a whole lot better than lecturing on formulas. Most teachers 13(A - agrees, B - agreed, C – would agree, D – agree) that teaching math is the most difficult job they have. You really have to have a passion for teaching to be truly effective. And you have to be a little creative as well. If you 14(A- can, B - may, C – could, D - can’t) accomplish this then you will be the teacher the kids remember and tell their kids about when they 15(A - were, B - are, C - had been, D - is) adults.

How To Make Learning A Pleasure : A Guide For Teachers

By Basant Pandey

Article Source: http://www.many-articles.com

I. The main problem faced by today’s teacher is that they feel students are lo…sing 1(A – o, B – u, C – a, D – i) interest in studies. If we look from the students’ persp…ctive 2(A - a, B - e, C – i, D - y). then students feel that whatever is taught to them in schools is b…ring 3(A - a, B – i, C – u, D – o). Being a teacher, I faced these problems and tried to sol…e 4(A - v, B - f, C – d, D - d) them. Based on my exp…riences 5(A - a, B - i, C – e, D - y), some of the solutions to increase interest and curiosity in students towards studies are:

II. 1. In a class of 30-40 students there may be more than 20-25 6(A – avocations, B – hobbies, C – pastimes, D - recreations) now the teachers’ job is to 7(A – correlate, B – compare, C – confront, D – contrast) these hobbies with their studies. 8(A - Believe, B - Assume, C - Guess, D - Suppose) a student has a hobby of collecting stamps. The History teacher can ask the students to 9(A – carry, B – bring, C – fetch, D - lead) all stamps with Famous 10(A – figures, B – individualities, C – personalities, D - persons) printed on it and with the help of these stamps, the lesson can be made interesting. Other student may like something else that can make our classroom teaching well.

III. 2. What would happen if , for example a science teacher while teaching about sun and universe can ask what would happen if these 11(A - will be, B - would be, C - would have been, D – wouldn’t be) no nights/days. Let student give different answers and 12(A - wrote, B - will write, C - writes, D - write) all of them point wise on the Board. This will develop imagination and creativity among students and they 13(A - would learn, B - will learn, C - learn, D - learned) importance of the rotation of earth and the functioning of solar system. 3. The teacher 14(A - should not expect, B - hadn’t expect, C - haven’t expect, D - hasn’t expect) correct response from the student, every time. In case, the student unable to give correct response, the teacher must not scold his/her rather than doing this the student 15(A - had to give, B - must give, C - must be given, D – mustn’t give) some clues/hint and encourage to reach the correct answer.

Parent or Student Loans: Which is the Best Option?

By Mark Saunder

Article Source: http://www.ArticleGeek.com

I. Getting a university education is an exp…nsive 1 (A – e, B – a, C – u, D – o) proposition. In fact, about 20 per cent of college students will need some form of fin…ncial 2 (A – i, B- o, C – a, D – e) help in order to pay for the expenses they will inc…r 3 (A – a, B – e, C – o, D – u)in school. One way to work around not having to get a student loan is for the parents themselves to take out a "parent loan". The question though is which among student loans or parent loans are better. Parent loans and student loans have their own set of advantages and disadvantages: Federal student loans pos…ess 4 (A – z, B – s, C – h, D – t) the lowest interest rates as well as the best r…payment 5 (A – e, B – a, C – i, D – y) options. If you have any need to apply for a loan and you can qualify for federal loans then make this the top choice for the loan you want to apply for.

II. As a way of 6 (A - restrictive, B - binding, C - limiting, D - limitary) your loan 7 (A – amenabilities, B – responsibilities, C – jurisdictions, D - obligations) only get the funds that you will need and refuse any other offers to raise it. Parents can opt to extend 8 (A - aid, B - assistance, C - service, D - support) to their children in paying off the loans when it comes time to repay the loan after graduation. Federal parent loans or PLUS loans (Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students) can be considered as another option in getting a loan that offers lower interest rates. One peculiar characteristic of a PLUS loan though is that the first payment for the loan starts about 60 days after the loan is granted. Private loans can be taken by both students and parents in funding university education 9 (A - expenses, B - costs, C - outgoings, D – outlays). The terms given for private loans are the same as the federal-type loans. However, students can negotiate for the 10 (A - pay, B - remuneration, C - reward, D - repayment) to commence after graduation.

III. One way for students to gain a good credit history 11 (A – is, B – are, C – was, D – were) by taking out small private loans. They 12 (A – need, B- would need, C - will need, D - needs) to cosign though in order to get private student loans. The big decision to be made is to determine which kind of loan 13 (A - will be, B – is, C – would be, D – have been) the best option for the individual. This boils down to a personal decision. When deciding on which loan to get you should first determine the amount of debt that your child will need in order to graduate from his studies. You 14(A – asks, B – will ask, C – could ask, D - should ask) yourself the level of responsibility you want your child to assume in paying off the loan. Finally you should sit down with your child and 15 (A- tried, B – try, C – tries, D – will try) to work out a repayment plan in paying for the loan.
