Individual work № 2

Exercise 1.Translate the text into Ukrainian.

An experience of shopping abroad

In the world there are a lot of women who like to do shopping. They can spend all day visiting different supermarkets and department stores searching to new clothes and trying on them.

As for me I don’t like shopping. I think that there are a lot of other interesting things in the world. Many people like to buy things in other countries, because they remind them later of their nice trip.

When I was in Finland I saw a lot of big supermarkets such as Stockman, Sockas and Galagen. Also I visited the biggest shopping centre in Europe – Etackeskas. European shops usually occupy 4-5 storied buildings. On the ground or first floor you can buy any food staffs you like. On the second floor there are lady’s and men’s departments. On the third level you can usually buy clothes for children. We try to buy different things and clothes abroad because we think or know that their quality is better in European countries than in our.

When a customer comes to a shop the shop assistant will always answer any question and try to do his best for you. Also every season there is a week or two of sales. In Europe the biggest sales begin two weeks before Christmas. Since for standards of living in Europe are higher and the economic situation is better than in our country it is much more convenient to pay the bill in shops. In all civilized countries the system of credit cards is introduce. Due to it you needn’t carry money with you at all; a credit card allows to pay for everything from the cars and to buttons.

Individual work № 3 Discussing Ideas at a Meeting

Exercise 1.Translate the dialogue into Ukrainian.

Chairman: I'd like to open today's meeting. Robert?

Robert: First, I'll quickly go over the main points of the last meeting.

Chairman: …. (finishes) , if no one has anything to add, let's move on to today's agenda.

Robert: I suggest we each give a little background on the suggestions we discussed last week.

Chairman: Could you repeat that, please?

Robert: Let's start by going over the research you've done on the suggestions.

Chairman: You'll find most of the information outlined in the summary documents in front of you.

Robert: These figures are interesting. It's clear to me that customer communications are not working as they should.

Chairman: Yes, our marketing efforts really haven't been effective to date.

Robert: I suggest we break up into groups and discuss how we can improve our message.

Chairman: Unfortunately, we're almost out of time. I suggest you submit your ideas on marketing and we can discuss the best next week.

Robert: Before we close, could we quickly discuss the Armstrong situation?
