Winter Study

It's a universal truth that every season is beautiful in its own way. Despite it's bleakness, and its cold and wet weather, winter is certainly my favorite season out of the four.

First of all I would like to tell you about the weather. When December is approaching there is a breath of winter in the autumn air. It is getting colder day by day.

On the one hand a lot of people think that winter weather can’t be jolly. When winter comes, we are to spend more time at home, because it is cold outside. Due to the fact that the temperature goes down - ponds, lakes, rivers and streams are frozen and the roads are sometimes covered with slippery ice or deep snow. Since we may get fog, sleet and frost cars and buses go along streets splashing the mud and slush on the passers-by.The cold makes the hands cold and stiff. Everyone is grumbling and scolding the weather. The trees are bare because bitter winds stripped them of all leaves and it seems like all nature has fallen asleep.

On the other hand, Isn't it wonderful to tramp down the country lanes on a frosty winter day? And then suddenly soft, white snowflakes are falling thick and fast covering the ground and roofs. When the branches of the fir trees and pines are covered with snow they look beautifully. Everything is white with snow and it crunches under your feet. The rime sparkles on the branches and the icicles like precious diamonds hang from the roofs of the houses. Everything seems to be covered into a white blanket. At night millions of stars shine in the darkness. This wonderful winter landscape looks like a picture from a fairytale book.

Besides, It's a merry time for both children and grownups. They can go skating and skiing, sledging and having a fight with snowballs or making a snowman. Moreover, it is always nice to stay inside from the cold, drinking hot chocolate and enjoying the company of friends and family. What is more, winter is also a season of loud celebrations, as there are many holidays during winter days. We celebrate Christmas and New Year and these are my favourite holidays of the year. Can you imagine how it to feel «The Spirit of Christmas?» I think it is amazing feeling which makes you believe in magic. As you see there are many reasons for me to like this season.

In conclusion I want to say :

Weekend.

After hard weekdays everyone, of course, looks forward to the weekend in order to relax and go away for the weekend. And in different countries there are various ways of spending the long-awaited weekend.

In Great Britain for example the great part of people stay with relatives at home or go to the countryside. In America people like to have a good time enjoying themselves looking foe a happiness of life. Americans find it very important.

So, the weekend of Russian people has a lot of similarities with the British and American weekend. The majority of people in Russia work a five-day week. But a number of people work otherwise. And I am belongs to people with a five-day or sometimes a six-day week. It depends on my timetable at the University. Therefore from Friday or Saturday evening till Monday morning I’m usually free.

As for me, I try very hard to have a good time and relax in the weekend. Personally, I always try to spend every Saturday and Sunday at home with my parents, prepare for the next day in Sunday. But now, being student, my weekend passes in a different way.

So, Saturday starts in 2-3 p.m. or over like that, because I always have a late night before. The Friday evening is the time when I firstly have a chance to relax after a hard week. Often I spend this time with a cup of tea near my laptop. I can watch any film, chat with my friends during the whole night. That's why I can creep to my bed at 3.

The next morning begins with a long lie-in. Later, at 2-3 o'clock, I can go out with my boyfriend and friends. When the weather is bad, there is nothing to do outside. If you can and know how to dance then you will enjoy party in the club. So sometimes we prefer to go to the club. I think it’s a perfect pastime. Also we can go to our friends, which give a party at home. If the weather is fine I like to take a walk in a city park or avenue. But sometimes I prefer stay at home at the weekend, if I tired during the week very much. Of course, the Sunday evening and even night I devote to the loads of homework because all my duties and...ok...laziness prevented me from doing my homework.
