Document Categories

Documents for international trade fall into several categories

1) Transaction documents

The key transaction document is the invoice or commercial invoice. This document is used by all parties to the transaction for accounting and bookkeeping purposes. It is required for export and import formalities as well as most banking and payment procedures. Commercial invoice describes the commercial transaction between the buyer and the seller. It includes the description of the goods, total price, terms of delivery and payment.

2) Export Documents

Export documents include licenses, permits, export declarations, inspection certificates, commercial invoice and transport documents. These documents are required by the customs.

3) Transport Documents

These documents are issued by a shipping line, air cargo carrier, trucking company or freight forwarder and detail the terms of transport cargo.

A bill of lading is the key transport document. It includes written evidence regarding receipt of the goods, the conditions of transportation and the engagement to deliver goods at the prescribed port of destination to the lawful holder of the bill of lading.

4) Inspection Documents

They certify the quality and quantities of a shipment and indicate that goods have been inspected.

5) Insurance Documents

These documents evidence insurance coverage of a shipment and can be in a form of a policy or certificate.

6) Banking / Payment Documents

They include letters of credit, amendments to letters of credit, deposit money, cheques, drafts,

bills of exchange, money transfer.

7) Import Documents

They are required by the customs authority of the country of import. Except the main documents (an entry form, a commercial invoice) every country requires many other forms.

2. Повторите спряжение глагола to be –быть, являться, находиться
