Part 5 Exchanging Information

It is time to send your work and ideas to pupils in different countries. You will need to fill in an Exchange Form.

The Exchange Form has been designed so that you can complete each activity on the form as you work through the topic. You could work on this as an individual or in small groups. You can also include other pieces of work, photographs or pictures that

you would like to share as additional sheets.

Part 6 Comparing information with other countries

When you have been sent an Exchange Form from another school, it is interesting to compare their information with yours. What is different and what is the same about the areas and communities that you live in?

Different groups in your class can choose which questions to look at, but everyone should think and talk about question 5.

Here are some ideas of things that you could look at:

1 Food in our lives.

• How do your daily eating habits compare with other countries?

• Are there any differences between what, how, when and where you eat during the day?

• Are there any similarities between your favourite and least favourite foods?

2 Celebrating food

• Did you find out anything interesting about the ways that people celebrate?

• Is food more or less important in celebrations?

3 You are what you eat

• Is it easier or harder to have a balanced diet compared to schools in other

countries?

• What factors can affect the diet of people around the world?

4 Sharing recipes

• Can you try to make any of the recipes designed by your partner schools?

(You could substitute ingredients that you cannot get hold of.)

5 Interesting information

a. What is the most interesting piece of information that you have found in the Exchange Forms?

b. How has your work on Food glorious food changed your knowledge,

understanding and appreciation of the importance of plants?
