somebody had done something

I had gone; we had studied; they had liked; you had read; he had done; she had been; it had rained

by 5 oclock I had already cleaned my flat by 5 oclock.

by Saturday We had done this task by Saturday.

by that time By that time he had been there twice.

by the first of June She had left by the first of June.

I had never seen him before yesterday.

I had washed everything up by 7 o’clock.

They had already gone when I arrived.

My father had visited Kiev before so the city wasn’t new for him.

She loved me for the dangers I had passed.

When Tom telephoned Sue, she had already gone out.

After she had cried she felt better.

Jessica phoned her friend Louise after she had had a cup of coffee.

After they had shaken hands Steve said, “Thank you”.

Betty had already cleaned the flat before her mother came home.

She had fallen out of love with him before the war was over.

Before I got an excellent mark in Physics I had studied very hard.

Hardly had he entered the room when he heard some noise.

No sooner had the bell gone than the teacher came into the classroom.

Scarcely had the mother opened the door when the children rushed to meet her.

He had hardly entered the room when he heard some noise.

The bell had no sooner gone than the teacher came into the classroom.

The mother had scarcely opened the door when the children rushed to meet her.
