Meteo-France provides an aeronautical specialized service “Aeroweb” on its web site.

Pilots may consult complete meteorological flight files, including:

significant weather charts TEMSI France of EUROC, EURAFI...;

charts of winds and temperatures in altitude at different flight levels;

METAR, TAF, SPECI, SIGMET.

An access code is delivered freely to anyone proving an aeronautical activity:

for members of the French national aeronautical federation, this code corresponds to the 7-digit license number; no particular procedure is required;

for any pilot affiliated to a federation (other than FNA) or not, a request for aeronautical access code, together with the copy of their license or similar document shall be addressed to:

Aerofax is a 24 hours a day free fax polling service available to pilots who have a fax machine with a “polling” function and a key pad. The pilot is only charged for the fax itself.

Pilots can choose from the following documents: TEMSI EUROC, the wind/temperature charts from FL50 to FL100, the TEMSI FRANCE, low altitude charts over France at FL20, FL50 and FL100, and METAR and SPECI over France as well as certain European countries and North Africa. Also available is long TAF and SIGMET for France and some European and North African countries.

To get an access code, users who are not members of a federation must forward a copy of their license or similar document to:

AEROCARTE

This is a multichannel server mainly intended for airline companies and airport facilities and enables them to consult automatically by fax or telephone, all the world area forecast system information in addition to national charts and OPMET, METAR, TAF, SPECI, SIGMET, AIRMET messages available in the EUR region.

IRELAND

Weatherdial fax is a fax polling service within Ireland available to pilots who have a fax machine with a key pad or tone-dialing handset. Dial the number and follow the voice prompt to enter the code of the product required.

This service is available only from tone-type telephones with the “*” and “#” buttons. Choice of forecast area is made by use of the telephone buttons. Dial the desired number and follow the instructions. NETHERLANDS

TELETEKST

Low level weather bulletins with METARs of various reporting stations in The Netherlands in the Dutch language are available via the Dutch public TV “Teletekst”, page 707.

The bulletins contain a concise description of the most important weather systems affecting flight as well as the following elements:

significant weather, including icing and turbulence;

clouds;

thermals;

height of the zero degree Celsius level if lower than 10000ft;

surface wind;

upper winds and temperatures at 500, 1500, 3000, 5000 and 10000ft.

INTERNET

A dedicated web site (http://www.aviationweather.nl) is available, requiring username and password. These can be obtained from the following user organizations: KNVvL, AOPA Netherlands and PBN. Professional users residing in the Netherlands may contact KNMI on aviation@knmi.nl.

The United Kingdom provides area Meteorological Watch for the London and Scottish FIR/UIR and for the Shanwick FIR/OCA. The National Meteorological Center (NMC) at Exeter acts as the Meteorological Watch Office (MWO) for these areas.
