17. My Pedagogical Research Work

Subject of my work - development of speech of children by means of the fairy tale Milne Winnie-the-Pooh on classes in English. At the beginning of work we studied psikhologo-pedagogical literature on a problem, revealed influence of the fairy tale of A.Miln on development of speech at children of the advanced preschool age, picked up techniques for identification of a level of development of speech and, at last, Developed a cycle of classes in A.Miln's fairy tale. We chose Winnie-the-Pooh as it is the English-speaking fairy tale reflecting a look of Englishmen on the world. Zakhoder in many respects adapted the fairy tale for Russian children. But all the same in the fairy tale there was purely children's atmosphere, clear and close to each child. Various methods of training were used: reading, retelling, display of illustrations, animated film viewing. Schitalka in English were used. At the beginning and at the end of experiment diagnostics were carried out. The last showed considerable improvements in development of speech of children of experimental group. children of control group still had same difficulties, children of experimental group considerably improved the results. They could convey meaning which was born by subject pictures, their stories were logically well built. Don allowed less than grammatical and lexical mistakes, their lexicon considerably extended. The thought-up stories were emotionally filled, interesting, it is possible to note also development of their imagination and creative abilities. The received distinctions are confirmed with statistical data processing.

On the basis of everything told it is possible to draw a conclusion that the put hypothesis about, if to use A.Miln's fairy tale on occupations with children of the advanced preschool age, the level of development of speech of children considerably will raise, is true.

18. Children’s Characters and Psychology

Child psychology is one of the many branches of psychology and one of the most frequently studied specialty areas. This particular branch focuses on the mind and behavior of children from prenatal development through adolescence. Child psychology deals not only with how children grow physically, but with their mental, emotional and social development as well.

Historically, children were often viewed simply as smaller versions of adults. When Jean Piaget suggested that children actually think differently than adults, Albert Einstein proclaimed that the discovery was "so simple that only a genius could have thought of it."

Today, psychologists recognize that child psychology is unique and complex, but many differ in terms of the unique perspective they take when approaching development. Experts also differ in their responses to some of the bigger questions in child psychology, such as whether early experiences matter more than later ones or whether nature or nurture plays a greater role in certain aspects of development.

19. Teacher’s Profession

The profession of a teacher is a very noble one. A teacher is a very important person for every family, where the schoolchildren live.

I remember my first teacher very well. Her name was Natalia Victorovna. She was a kind woman and paid much attention to us all. She taught us to read and write, told us many interesting things about everything and she instructed us how to work. When we became fifth-formers we had one form-teacher and many other teachers in all school subjects.

My form-teacher’s name is Anna Ivanovna. She pays much attention to us and wants us to pass our examinations well. Most of the teachers that taught me all these years are kind people and good professionals.

Some pupils in our form want to enter the Teacher Training University and to become teachers at school. But I myself do not want to be a teacher because this profession is very difficult. The profession of a teacher demands a great erudition and a great patience to children. I believe, that people, who teach children, must have more time for self-education and must be paid well.

There are a lot of interesting and useful professions. I am going to become a teacher. I suppose my future profession to be one of the most important nowadays.

My future speciality is English (Literature, Russian, History, Geography). I love children very much and to become a teacher has been my dream since my early childhood.

To teach and to bring up children is the most important and noble thing, to my mind. I am eager to get the proper education to be able to do my best to teach my future pupils my favourite subject. I'll try not only to help them to master it. I'll try to help them to become good and clever people, to be honest, kind and noble.

Children are our future and I want them to be really good and educated people. Of course, the profession of a teacher is not an easy one. It demands a lot of knowledge, a lot of tenderness of feeling and sometimes a lot of patience. But I hope, that I'll be a good teacher and that my pupils will like me and my subject.

20.

My Working Day

A typical day goes something like this. We get up around 6 a.m., wash, have some coffee and toast, let the dog outside and feed him, bring the dog back in and leave for work. I drop Martha off at her job around 7:15 a.m. and then I drive to the University (from our house to her work is about three miles, from her work to the University is another three). I park the car and get to my office by 7:45 a.m. Then I check my schedule and start to work. Around 11:30 a.m. we break for lunch. I usually eat at the student union with co-worker or other students. Then back to work. I usually leave for the day at 4:30 p.m. I pick Martha up at her job and we are back home by 5:30 p.m. After changing into more comfortable clothes, we turn on the television to watch the news while we prepare dinner. After dinner, we may study. go shopping, or just relax and watch television or listen to music. Saturdays are a bit different. We often sleep late, until 9:00 a.m. or even a bit later. Once or twice a month we may go out for breakfast at a local restaurant. The rest of the day is spent working on the house, studying, or running errands. Saturday evening is often spent with friends or family members, typically over dinner, or we go to a concert.
