Summary
1. A small group is a prerequisite for the development of a person’s ability to manage themselves
and others.
2. A team, especially a democratic one, creates the best opportunities for the self- development
of the individual.
3. A team, especially a democratic one, creates the best opportunities for realising an individual’s
capacity for self- management.
4. Team members have high demands for self- organisation and self- management.
5. A successful team performance requires a high level of psychological culture of the team mem-
bers, understanding and acceptance of diversity of people, which ultimately results in: “1 + 1 + 1 = 9”.
6. Each team develops its own rules, but there are universal rules: “Self”, “Activity”, “Here
and now”, “Sincerity and openness”. These rules apply only within the team.
Think about and answer these questions
1. Why do you think the conditions for self- development are optimal in teamwork?
2. Why do you think that the demands on team members are higher than in normal small groups?
3. What is the criterion for allocating people to team roles?
4. What kind of work (team or individual) is preferable for you? Justify your preference.
