International cooperation
The University is a recognized leader in international cooperation. Each year KFU members win dozens of grants from international foundations, involving themselves in projects with cutting-edge research centers in many countries. Our students and professors actively participate in bilateral research and exchange programs with about 100 partner institutions in more than 35 countries. Annually more than 500 faculty and staff members take trip abroad to conduct research, pass trainings and deliver lectures; about 100 students take semester studies in partner universities.
Student life
Kazan University has all possible amenities to allow students all round self-fulfillment. Cultural and sport events, student forums, conferences, round tables and other activities enable students to develop and progress in various spheres and areas.
KFU is the only Russian higher education institution which has enough housing units to accommodate all students who can choose from comfortable dormitories of the 2013 Summer Universiade Village or the Student campus. Dormitories have all necessary integrated services – gyms, creative studios, reading halls, dining rooms, computer labs, regular access to Internet, etc.
Location
Kazan is the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan. The city is located in the center of the European part of Russia, 800 km south-east of Moscow on the banks of the Volga and Kama rivers. The city has a population of 1.1 million people, nearly half of whom are Tatars, the other half being Russians. Both Tatar and Russian languages are widely used in the city.
Kazan is an important historical and cultural center. The city celebrated its 1000th anniversary in 2005. Kazan takes pride in having one of the best and oldest universities of Russia, KFU, and a number of other higher education institutions. The city offers a range of cultural and recreational attractions. Kazan is the host city for the 2013 Summer Universiade and for 2018 FIFA World Cup.
