The definition of the free length and effective diameter of air molecules.

Purpose: To get acquainted from one of the methods of definition of microparameters (average of free length and efficient diameter of air molecules) through microparameters.

The order of performing a work:

  1. Turn on tap. By waiting, when the water will begin to imply by drops, to switch a stop watch and to notice a level of water h in a vessel.

  2. When the level of water in a vessel will decrease on 1 sm, to shut the tap.

  3. Write down time of implying and new level h of water.

  4. Write meanings of temperature t and pression p.

  5. To evaluate a viscosity factor by the formula: .

  6. To evaluatev the average free length by the formula: .

  7. To evaluatev the efficient diameter of air molecules by the formula: .

  8. The data of measurements and calculations to write in the table.

Where : r=1,0*10 m- the radius of capillary.

l= 2,*10 m- the length of capillary.

S= 19,6*10 m- area of in a vessel.

=1*10 kg/m- density of water.

R=8,31 Dj/mol*K- absolute gas constant.

K=1,38*10 Dj/k- Boltsman’s constant.

M= 2,9*10 kg/mol- molar weight of air.

g= 9.8 m/s - acceleration of gravity.
