Remember to say:

  • whether books have a positive influence on people’s lives or why not;

  • what kind of books you like reading;

  • whether e-books can replace paper books.

I think that books have a positive influence on many people’s lives. Books help us to forget about our problems, to think of something pleasant, to dream. Books give us useful advice and teach us how to live. I can’t imagine my life without books.

We were taught to read in childhood, because reading increases the level of literacy and develops imagination. I was raised on the works of Astrid Lindgren "Rasmus-Tramp”, Mark Twain "The Prince and the Pauper," "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer”. It seems to me that all books for children teach us kindness and justice. I am very grateful to the authors of these books, because they made my childhood wonderful. In my childhood I mostly read fairy-tales or adventure books, but I grew and my

preferences changed.

I enjoy biographies becausei find it interestins

to read about people’s lives and experiences,

moreover I’m keen on historical fiction books as

I like learning a lot about the past and find suchbooks educational. There’re several types books I

really hate.I can’t stand science-fiction books and romance as I

find them boring,unrealistic and predictable.

Life in the 21st centure is fast-paced and ruled

by mobiles, the internet and gadgets, so it’s easy to

understand why some people prefer e-books to

paper books.

Thinking about if e-books can replace printed books in the future, I don't believe that it will happen, as printed books have certain advantages over electronic media. First of all, they are cheaper and easier to use. Secondly, printed books don't need electricity and you can take a book with you wherever you like, even to bed. What's more, a printed book is better for human eyes than a screen. Finally, not all books can be found on-line. So I think that printed books will always be a part of human culture. New technology has introduced great changes in our daily lives, but books on-line can never compete, in my opinion, with human's personal relationship with printed books.

Give a talk about shopping

Remember to say:

  • about kinds of shopping

  • how often you shop at a supermarket

  • whether you make a shopping list and stick to it

  • what tricks supermarkets do to tempt us into spending more

Shopping

I can easily claim that the Russians are highly adventurous shoppers. Despite the fact that we prefer reliability and high-quality, we can easily buy even a faulty good provided we really like it. Nevertheless, shopping habits totally depend on a person`s income rate.

In my opinion, there’re 2 main kinds of shopping: shopping for clothes, which is the most exiting kind of shopping and Shopping for food, which is not so exiting, but it is vitally important for everyone. The majority of Russian people buy their produces in various supermarkets in spite of the fact that the prices there are twice or even three times as high as at market, but the range of goods is definitely bigger.

As for me,I go to the supermarket with my family once

a week,mostly at weekends.My mum always makes a list

of the things we need, but we don’t always stick to it

because I usually ask if we can buy things I like, such

as crisps, biscuits and fuzzy drinks. We often buy sweets

and magazines as extras at the checkout, too.

We prefer shopping at the supermarkets, because it’s

more convinient to buy everything you need at one place.

Besides, stores do different tricks to tempt people into

spending more.

Firstly, they use delicious smells of freshly-baked bread

or beautiful displays of colourful produce and you

immediately start feeling hungry. This is all intentional, because every supermarket knows that hungry customers buy more fruit and vegetables. Also, there’re a lot of special

offers'3 for 6' might sound like a great bargain. Finally, supermarkets use packaging strategies that make it easy to work out which goods. are the cheapest either. All these thing are sneaky but tempting!!

3. Give a talk about holidays in Russia.
