1.History
Malta, located in the heart of the sea routes from Europe to Asia and Africa, has long attracted conquerors. In the VIII century BC Malta, begin to colonize the Phoenicians and almost simultaneously — the Greeks. From the IV century BC to the XIII century A. D. it was alternately occupied by the Carthaginians, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Normans, Spaniards. In 1798, Malta was conquered by the French army under the command of Napoleon Bonaparte, bound for Egypt. Napoleon abolished the power of the order on the island. 2. The geographical position
The
Maltese archipelago is primarily the Islands of Malta and Gozo. It

4.Political structure
Malta is a parliamentary Republic. The Constitution of Malta was adopted in 1964 posleduyuschimi amended. Legislative power is vested in the Parliament consisting of the President and the House of representatives, which consists of 69 members. Members are elected by universal suffrage on the basis of proportional representation for 5 years. The head of state is the President. Executive power is exercised by the government headed by the Prime Minister.
