Dьrr System Solutions in Environmental Technology

Achieving ecological and economical solutions for industrial production facilities is the basis of Environmental Systems supplied by Dьrr, following the principles of "Avoidance - Recycling - Waste Management".

Dьrr offers a variety of system solutions which meet the most stringent economical and regulatory requirements. To achieve this, Dьrr specialists offer full service project management from planning to system service.

DЬRR Ecopure EXHAUST AIR PURIFICATION PLANTS

The Dьrr range of products includes both thermal and adsorptive methods and offers a wide range of possible solutions for many different branches of industry. Combinations of procedures, often with exhaust air conditioning and heat recovery units up and downstream provide advanced solutions with high recovery rates for valuable materials and energy.

Over 2,000 plants, built in 33 years of plant engineering in the environmental systems sector, treat worldwide more than 12 million Nm3 every hour. The plants have capacities between 1,000 and 1,000,000 Nm3/h.

Overview of the most important procedures:

Incineration of exhaust gases and residual liquids Ecopure VAR

The Ecopure VAR units are designed for flue gas volumes from 1,000 to 50,000 Nm3/h. They are used mainly in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry or related industries.

In these cases, exhaust gases with very different pollutant loads, including explosive mixtures and residual liquids have to be treated. With the Ecopure VAR system highly difficult problems such as the incineration of halogenated hydrocarbons, high-NOx exhaust gases and residual liquids containing salts and heavy metals can be solved.

The regenerative thermal oxidation Ecopure RTO

The Ecopure RTO is mainly used in the chemical and pharmaceutical sectors but also in the printing, coating and painting industries. Their application is particularly recommended where an external heat recovery units should not be installed. The major advantage of these units is that the operating costs are low. Furthermore, very low emission levels in the purified air can be achieved.

The Ecopure RTO is used as a compact unit RTO/C for solvent-laden air purification for small air volumes up to max. 50,000 Nm3/h. The Ecopure RTO unit for exhaust air volumes from 3,000 to over 400,000 Nm3/h.

The regenerative catalytic oxidation Ecopure RCO

The Ecopure RCO is mainly used in the paint finishing, coating, chemical industry or wood and timber industry. The operating costs are lower as for the Ecopure RTO systems. The range of air volumes to be treated is the same as for the RTO system.

Thermal exhaust air purification Ecopure TAR

Ecopure TAR incinerators are suitable for the treatment of exhaust air volumes from 1,000 to 40,000 Nm3/h. They are mainly applied in the paint finishing, coating, printing and chemical industries. Ecopure TAR incinerators are used in processes where the abatement system can also be used as a heating system for the related production facility. The higher the pollutant concentration in the exhaust air, the greater the reduction in waste management and production costs

Solvent concentration Ecopure KPR

Ecopure KPR units are used for high volume flow rates and low pollutant concentrations. The process is suitable for a wide variety of solvents and solvent mixtures, and for solving problems of odour.

System Solutions in Water Treatment / Purification and Waste Water Technology

System solutions in water technology include water purification systems, recovery systems, and a complete range of waste water technology that focuses on recycling valuable water and energy resources.

Waste Water Purification

The level of purity required for production is achieved by matching the processes and process combinations to the available raw water. Dьrr has developed individual solutions on the basis of our extensive know-how and the wide variety of processes we have to offer.

·Filtration

·Membrane Technology

·Ion Exchange Technology

·Degasification

·UV-Irradiation

Waste Water Treatment and Recycling

The legal requirements and directives can only be met with appropriate procedures. Suitable methods include:

·Microfiltration

·Ultrafiltration

·Reverse-Osmosis

·Chemo-physical processes like precipitation, sedimentation, filtration, etc.

The appropriate combination of individual equipment provides numerous possibilities for an optimum solution, that is both cost-efficient in operation and that also meets the requirements of legislation. Closed-loop recirculation systems save water and place a high priority in recovering materials and energy.

1. Transesterification in membrane reactors

In the oleochemical industry fatty acid methyl esters are transesterified with higher alcohols to form esters like isopropyl myristate or butyl stearate. These equilibrium reactions can be optimized by a simultaneous separation of the by-product. In a current project a process shall be developed using new methanol selective membranes.

2. Extraction of natural active substances and aromas

In pharmaceutics, cosmetics and food indusry natural aromas and active substances are used. A new extraction process shall be created using emulsifier-water-mixtures instead of organic solvents. These works are done in cooperation with Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ulrich Mьller, Fachhochschule Lippe, Fachbereich Lebensmitteltechnologie.

3. Organic syntheses with enzymes

Several esters will be synthesized with a lipase as a catalytic agent.
