II. Does your school have any traditions?
Like many Belarusian schools, we have some traditions at the lyceum. Every year we celebrate the Day of Knowledge, the Last Bell (Последний звонок), Graduation Day (Выпускной), Reunion Day (Встреча выпускников). We have subject Olympiads and autumn and winter Health Days. We call them Spartakiades. We have Kapustnik which is very popular with both teachers and pupils. All these events give us a break from everyday routine, create the atmosphere of friendship and cooperation.
III. Ask me questions about my school life.
My questions will be:
1. Did you study well at school?
2. What were your favourite subjects?
3. Did you take part in subject Olympiads or sport competitions?
4. What subjects didn’t you like at school?
IV. What would you advise your friend to do at school to enter university?
1. If you would like to enter university it’s necessary to have a good GPA. So, I advise you to do
well in all subjects.
2. You should work hard and systematically during the whole year, not only at the end of the
term. In this case you will get a more profound (более глубокие) knowledge.
3. I advise you to attend optional lessons in subjects which you need for your entrance exams.
4. You should take part in extra-class activities because they will help you relax and forget about
everyday routine. So, you will regain energy and strength more quickly.
V. Some pupils think that studying at school is only lessons and homework. Do you agree with them?
I disagree with them. Everything depends on a pupil. If you want to study well, you need to work hard. But besides lessons and homework, we have different out-of-class activities. They are concerts and discos, different trips and excursions, intellectual contests and sport competitions. These events develop pupils’ talents and skills, test them in different situations. Thanks to them we can relax, have fun, mix with friends, broaden our outlook.

I. Let’s talk about school traditions.
My name is … . I study at the lyceum of Belarusian-Russian University.
The aim of our school is to find pupils’ strengths, to develop their talents and abilities. I think that experienced teachers of the lyceum encourage us to study with interest and enthusiasm.
It’s difficult but interesting to study at the lyceum. Besides lessons we have after-class activities. They are concerts and discos, different trips and excursions, intellectual contests and sport competitions. Thanks to them we can relax, have fun, mix with friends, broaden our outlook.
We have various games and quizzes which are held during our subject-weeks, and they are very popular with both teachers and pupils. All these events give us a break from everyday routine, create the atmosphere of friendship and cooperation. Our teachers find various interesting and cheerful scenarios for the 8th of March, Teacher’s Day, St. Valentine’s Day, the New Year, Maslenitsa, Kalyady and others and we celebrate these holidays in our assembly hall.
Moreover, I would like to say that wearing school uniform is also a kind of tradition at our lyceum as fashion rules are quite strict here. School uniform should be in white and dark colors, without bright and multicolored suits. It is impossible to wear jeans and scarves. Boys should wear a jacket of black color, a shirt and necessarily a tie. They need to wear beautiful black shoes or boots. Girls should wear white blouses, a business style suit or a black skirt. Skirts should not be above the knee. As for footwear the girls need to wear black shoes, but without heels. The official style looks very beautiful and interesting. So, traditions in our lyceum are great, so we preserve and cherish them.
