II. Does your school differ from any other school you know?
I studied at the lyceum of Belarusian Russian University. It’s a selective school. After the 9th form I took exams to enter this educational establishment. There are 3 profiles at the lyceum. I studied at … (Philological / Physics and Mathematics) Profile. Besides compulsory subjects I had optional lessons in … (Physics and Mathematics / Mathematics and English / Russian and English). The teachers in our lyceum are very skilled, kind and friendly. They try to give us all their knowledge and awake our interest to their subjects and to self study. Besides the school subjects, our teachers tell us about everything, about different problems of our world and our society in particular.
School year begins, as a rule, on the 1st of September and ends in May. It lasts 9 months: from September till May. We have 4 holidays a year. The summer holidays are long. They last 3 months. The winter holidays are shorter, they lasts only two weeks. During the holidays we don't study, we have a rest. We go to lyceum every day except Sundays. On weekdays we work hard. On weekends we have a rest, as a rule.

1. If you would like to enter university it’s necessary to have a good GPA. So, I advise you to do well in all subjects.
2. You should work hard and systematically during the whole year, not only at the end of the term. In this case you will get a more profound (более глубокие) knowledge.
3. I advise you to attend optional lessons in subjects which you need for your entrance exams.
4. You should take part in extra-class activities because they will help you relax and forget about everyday routine. So, you will regain energy and strength more quickly.

I think, that school gives me knowledge, develops me as a personality, gives me an opportunity to socialize with interesting people, teaches me how to cope with difficulties and helps me achieve my goals. They are to get a good education, to find an interesting and well-paid job, to create a happy family, to have faithful and reliable friends, to live an interesting and exciting life. School develops in me such qualities as diligence, determination, responsibility and patience. So, I think that in general, school gives a person a good start in life.

The aim of our school is to find pupils’ strengths, to develop their talents and abilities. I think that experienced teachers of the lyceum encourage us to study with interest and enthusiasm.
In my opinion, our time-table is not bad. We have double lessons at the lyceum. It’s convenient because we can bring fewer books to school. The lessons start at half past 8 and are over at two, three or four o’clock depending on the time-table. There are 10 and 15-minute breaks. We have a long 30-minute break after the 6th lesson.
We have optional lessons in some subjects because we want to learn them at a more profound level. I have optional lessons in … and … on … (day of the week). My favourite subjects are … , but I’m not good at … .
It’s difficult but interesting to study at the lyceum. I am happy that I’ve studied here. The lyceum gives me knowledge, develops me as a personality, teaches to cope with difficulties and I have found good reliable friends here.
