II. What’s the best place you’ve been to?

I think that the best holiday I had was my summer in Sochi. It was just three years ago. My parents and I were sitting in the living-room discussing our plans for the summer holidays. My father suggested that we should go to Sochi. On hearing that I jumped up with joy and said it was a wonderful idea. My mother wasn't against the idea either. I liked Sochi very much. We bathed and went boating and swimming, lay in the sun on the beach. In the evenings we went for a walk or dropped in at a cafe to have ice-cream or juice. My father showed us the famous Botanical Gardens, we went for hikes in the mountains, saw the magnificent Augura Waterfalls. That summer was great.

III. What questions should you ask a travel agent to learn more about a tour?

My questions will be:

1. What countries are we going to visit?

2. Is it a package tour?

3. What is the price of the tour?

4. Are there any discounts in your agency?

IV. Today some people are tired of exotic countries and prefer to spend holidays in Belarus. Give a piece of advice where to go and what to see in Belarus.

To my mind, Belarus is a beautiful country with rich historical and cultural heritage.

1. I would advise tourists to visit four sights which have been entered into the UNESCO World Heritage sites. They are Mir and Nesvizh Castles, the Belavezhskaya Puscha and the Struve Arc.

2. Tourists should visit castles in Zaslavle, Ruzhany, Novogrudok, Krevo, Golshany which are famous for knights’ tournaments and concerts of medieval music.

3. There are a lot of monuments and memorials dedicated to the Great Patriotic War. It is interesting to visit the Khatyn Memorial Complex, the Buynichi Field Memorial near Mogilev, the Brest Fortress, the Mount of Glory and others.

4. If people enjoy nature I would recommend them to go to Lake Naroch, the Braslav Lakes Region, the Belavezhskaya Puscha National Park.

5. I think, tourists would enjoy picking up mushrooms and berries in our forests, going fishing, visiting museums, art galleries, fairs and festivals of folk crafts.

V. What would make you wiser-travelling around the world for 10 years or reading 10,000 books?

In my opinion travelling around the world is much better than reading books at home as it gives you practical knowledge and widens your horizons. Millions of people all over the world spend their holidays travelling. They travel to see other countries and continents, modern cities and the ruins of ancient towns, they travel to enjoy picturesque places, or just for a change of scene. It's always interesting to discover new things, different ways of life, to meet different people, to try different food, to listen to different musical rhythms.

Most travellers and holiday-makers take a camera with them and take pictures of everything that interests them — the sights of a city, old churches and castles, views of mountains, lakes, valleys, plains, waterfalls, forests; different kinds of trees, flowers and plants, animals and birds.

Later, perhaps years later, they will be reminded by the photos of the happy time they have had.
