I. Let’s talk about physical culture and sport.
I’m absolutely sure, that doing sport is the best way to keep fit. It helps us grow strong and healthy. It creates “a healthy body for a healthy mind”. It also makes people more organized and better disciplined.
There are many different kinds of sport to choose from. If you like team games, try hockey, football, volleyball or basketball. Games to play with a friend include badminton and tennis. If you enjoy doing things on your own, you can take up swimming, athletics, gymnastics, skating and skiing.
I think, you don’t need to be good at sports to enjoy them. Doing exercise is more important for a healthy way of life than winning competitions.
II. What is your attitude to sport?
1 variant: As for me, I am not a sportive person. I don’t go in for sport. I attend PT lessons at the lyceum where I run, jump, play volleyball. But as a fan, I have my favourite kind of sport. It is … (figure skating). I enjoy watching different competitions and championships in … (figure-skating) on TV. It’s an exciting and beautiful kind of sport.
2 variant: As for me, I can’t imagine my life without sport. I regularly play football with my friends, play hockey, go skiing and skating in winter. From time to time I go to the swimming-pool or to the gym. As a fan, I enjoy watching … . My favourite team is … .
III. What questions will you ask a professional sportsman?
My questions will be:
1. When did you take up sport?
2. What are your achievements in sport?
3. Is it a difficult profession?
4. What qualities do you need to become a professional sportsman?
IV. What can you advise a person who wants to lead a healthy way of life?
My advice will be:
1. You should do physical exercise regularly.
2. I advise you to spend your free time in an active way.
3. You should sleep enough to regain energy and strength.
4. You should eat healthy food and avoid any addiction.
V. Why do you think great sportsmen can be called outstanding people? Do you know any
famous Belarusian sportsmen?
In my opinion, great sportsmen can be called outstanding people, because they have achieved great results in sport and glorified (прославили) their country. They usually demonstrate such qualities as determination (целеустремлённость), strong will (сильная воля), patience, self-discipline. They have “a champion spirit”. That is an ability to win without boasting (хвастовства), and to lose without complaining (жалоб) afterwards.
Speaking about famous Belarusian sportsmen, I would call Dariya Domracheva in biathlon, Victoriya Azarenka and Maxim Myrny in tennis, Alexandra Gerasimenya in swimming. They are not only Olympic champions but do a lot to popularize sport in Belarus and in the world.

I. Let’s talk about clothes and fashion.
I think that fashion exists in any society. It is influenced by art, religion, laws, customs and traditions of this society. In any culture there are proverbs about fashion and style. For example,
1) Clothes Make the Man. 2) You Are What You Wear and others. I agree with all of them, because clothes can tell other people a lot about us. We often judge (судим о …) people by the clothes they are wearing. For example, people dressed in expensive stylish clothes are often thought to be wealthy, confident and beautiful. People who wear old and dirty clothes are called either eccentric or untidy and tasteless.
From my point of view, things that a person wears should be comfortable. It gives him confidence. As for me, fashion isn’t the most important thing in my life, but I always try to keep up-to-date. (быть современным)
I am into casual (smart, elegant, classical) style in clothes. My favourite clothes are … (jeans, T-shirts, blouses, skirts, trousers, trainers … etc.)
