I agree with this point of view partly. On the one hand, computer games (especially online) help you relax and release (выбросить) negative emotions. They develop logical thinking and good reaction. On the other hand, you can easily become addicted (зависимый), this activity spoils your eyesight (портит зрение) and doesn’t keep you fit. I think, it’s up to you to decide what games and how long to play for your benefit.

I. Let’s talk about customs and traditions. What is your favourite holiday?
Each season in Belarus is connected with various holidays, customs, traditions, and festivals. Traditions can be linked with sport and entertainment, with public and family holidays and folklore.
I would like to begin with public holidays which are official days off. I think that having a holiday is always great fun. Firstly, people have a day off from work and studies. Secondly, it’s a variety and relaxation from everyday routine. I think that Christmas, New Year, the 8th of March, Easter, Victory Day, Independence Day are the most popular in our republic.
I love all holidays but most of all I admire Christmas and New Year. They are usually celebrated with the family, relatives and friends. A few weeks before these holidays people send cards, put up Christmas decorations inside and outside homes, decorate Christmas tree. The symbols of Christmas and New Year’s Day are Father Christmas, Christmas tree, exchanging presents, watching television and enjoying fireworks. For me New Year is always associated with some magic, sweets, tangerines (мандарины), tasty food and a lot of fun during my winter school holidays. One more holiday is very popular with my family. This is Easter. Usually we exchange and eat painted eggs and Easter pies (куличи). Eggs are a symbol of spring and new life in many cultures of the world.
II. Why do you think Victory Day is a special holiday for all Belarusians?
Victory Day on the 9th of May is a special holiday for all Belarusians. On this day we celebrate our victory over fascism in the Great Patriotic War. Belarusians paid a high price for the liberation of our Motherland. In all regional cities of Belarus there are veteran parades in the morning and big fireworks at night. People visit monuments and memorials which remind us of victories and tragedies during the Great Patriotic War. The most famous and impressive places are the Mount of Glory (Курган Славы), Brest Fortress, the Khatyn Memorial, the Buynichi Field near Mogilev.
