Summary

The title of the thesis is “The study of work environment in Rakvere Private Gymnasium”.

The thesis is 48 pages in length and includes thirteen diagrams (figures).

The main sources of the thesis are the Occupational Health and Safety Act and specific literature. The most used literature is „Tööohutuse ja töötervishoiu käsiraamat 2011/2012“ („Occupational Safety and Health handbook 2011/2012)

The topic of work environment is vital because each persons life is a value which could be lost by a seemingly small mistake. Employers do not want to ensure employee-friendly conditions because it turns out to be too expensive. Therefore employers ignore the requirements set by the law and this may prove to be hazardous to the employees health. But there are also employees who consciously do not follow the requirements.

The main goal of the thesis is to find out the employers and the employees assessment of Rakvere Private Gymnasium to their work environment. This to better the work environment in occupational health and safety area.

The objectives to reach the main goal of the thesis are:

find out the requirements of work environment and the employers management activities on the basis of the law.

Find out the assessments of the employer and the employees based on the example of Rakvere Private Gymnasium.

Bring out the findings and if needed make suggestions to the employer to improve the work environment.

The research method used in this thesis is quantitative.

The subject of the research is the work environment in Rakvere Private Gymnasium.

In conclusion, the work environment in Rakvere Private Gymnasium is in accordance with the requirements of the law and both the employer and the employees are satisfied with their work environment.
