The Tower on the north bank of the Thames is one of the most ancient buildings. London. It was founded in the 11th century by William the Conqueror. For many centuries the Tower has been a fortress, a palace, a prison and royal treasury. Many saddest events took place within the walls of the Tower. The greatest people were sent to, tortured and executed. At present people visit the Tower as a museum to see old arms, armor as well as the Crown Jewels. The Tower is Britain's most famous and most visited historic building .And it has many old interesting traditions.
