Seven reasons why I love travelling

I’m ……………… to travelling, I’d love to visit more travel destinations than I do, in fact, if I could afford it, and had enough leave at work I would travel somewhere different every month. I’ve decided that I want to visit four new destinations this year and these are the ……………… why:

Meeting new people I travel a lot by myself, some people would call that sad, but I love my own ………………. , and it gives me the opportunity of meeting new people; locals especially love talking with you and helping you understand their way of life and also learning more about England.

Trying the local delicacies I hate it when I see English people going into the likes of McDonalds, and KFC abroad – I much prefer to eat the local delicacies, and …………….. the local beers. In fact, every destination I visit I try out their locally brewed beer, and have come to love beers like Mythos, in an ice cold beer jug.

The atmosphere of travelling The atmosphere of arriving in a new country, watching the …………….. as I take the trip to my hotel, people watching in a local bar or café. The build up of excitement as I arrive at my airport (hopefully on time) and then getting on to the plane for my journey – I just love the buzz of travelling.

Learning new languages Being from Yorkshire, it’s sometimes difficult to understand us, we talk quite fast, well I do, and we don’t know when to shut up, so it’s always ………………. to learn some of the local language and I actually enjoy learning the ………………… before I travel.

Mixing with the locals Whilst mixing with tourists provides a good atmosphere, you cannot beat sat in a café or restaurant surrounded by locals. You learn a lot about the language, and how they ……………….. with other locals; I was in Torrevieja at my dad’s apartment, and we were invited to a house party, most of the guests could speak fairly good English and we learnt a lot about their culture.

Finding exciting attractions When I ………………… a trip away, I always create a list of places that I want to visit, and make sure I visit those places. There have been times when I’ve arrived at the attraction and I’ve stood there with excitement, the Sydney Harbour bridge was one of those occasions.

The memories I love taking my camera wherever I go, and I try and take as many pictures as I can, so that I can ……………. . I drive the family mad because whenever I return from a holiday or weekend trip, I get them together and show all of the photos.

  1. Maria is from Italy. On a trip to San Francisco she was assigned a seat in row 17. Some Italians are superstitious about the number 17, which in Roman numerals looks like “I have lived.” She thought about saying something to the stewardesses, but thought it might be silly. 1. Last year, Jorge traveled to Paris, London, Sydney, Barcelona, Cambodia, India and Greece! 1. Oksana is Ukrainian. She had to catch a 9:00 AM flight to Oslo, and from Oslo to LAX. Oksana woke up at 5:30 AM with plenty of time to get ready and make it to the airport. All her luggage was packed and at 6:45 AM she was already saying goodbye and was out the door. About 10 minutes later, Oksana is in her taxi and she realizes she has forgotten her carry-on! She asks the taxi driver to turn back, but he tells her that she should just forget about her carry-on. Oksana insists and she returns to get her carry-on. She ends up leaving her house, for the second time, at 7:15 AM. Oksana gets to the airport an hour later. Ten minutes before 9 AM, the airport announces that all flights are cancelled until further notice. Finally at 10 PM, the airport announces that the flight for Oslo is ready for boarding. Oksana arrives in Oslo the next morning, and of course, she has missed the connecting flight to Los Angeles. She waits 8 more hours in Oslo and finally boards the plane bound for LAX. Finally, at LAX, she waits patiently for her luggage. It never shows up. Oksana is very jet-lagged and upset because of all her bad luck. But at least she has her carry-on!
