One of the most significant decisions you make in life is choosing the kind of work you want to do. It’s important to find the job that best suits you and for which you are best qualified. The person who has a career that fits his or her special needs and abilities finds satisfaction in working. I consider the occupation I’ve chosen to be the one that best suits me.
In two years I’ll graduate from Berdychiv College of Industry, Economics and Law and become a specialist in the field of mechanical engineering who is in a great need nowadays.
Mechanical engineering deals with the design, construction and operation of machines and devices of all kinds, and with research and sciences upon which these depend.
Mechanical engineers design and develop everything you think of as a machine and influence the design of other products as well. They analyze their design using the principles of motion, energy, and force to insure the product functions safely, efficiently, reliably, and can be manufactured at a competitive cost.
To do well in this profession, a person should be a creative problem solver, detail-oriented, and be able to comfortably think in mathematical terms. He or she should also have good communication skills and work well in a team.
Mechanical engineers need to have:
- knowledge of mechanical processes and physics;
- knowledge of electronics and the effect of heat on materials;
- an awareness of government and safety regulations, and quality standards;
- project management skills and organisational ability;
- problem-solving skills and the ability to think analytically and laterally;
- mathematical modelling skills;
- written and oral communication skills;
