Олигополия
На мировом рынке гражданского самолетостроения, объем которого оценивается в 1 трлн. долл. и 16 тыс. новых самолетов в год, до недавнего времени господствовали в основном три компании «Airbus Industry», «Bowing» и «MC Donnel Douglas». Слияние в августе 1997 года «Bowing» и «MC Donnel Douglas», стоившее первому 15 млрд. долл., усилило позиции американского капитала и оставило на рынке лишь две основные компании. Для обеспечения конкурентных преимуществ перед проникающими на западноевропейский рынок американскими компаниями в Западной Европе были образованы международные авиастроительные консорциумы. Созданный французской авиастроительной компанией «Aerospatiale», немецкой «Daimler Chrysler Aerospacte», английской «British Aerospace» и испанской «CASA» концерн «Airbus Industry» в конце девяностых годов ХХ века контролировал 30 % мирового производства гражданских реактивных самолетов. В 2002 году доля «Airbus Industry» на рынке средних и больших самолетов составила 43%. Чтобы догнать американское самолетостроение, европейской компании «Airbus Industry» понадобилось около двадцати лет и 26 млрд. долл. государственных средств.
