Вариант 1

I. Перепишите следующие предложения. Определите по грамматическим признакам, какой частью речи являются слова, оформленные окончанием – s, какую функцию это окончание выполняет, т.е. служит ли оно:

а) показателем 3-го лица единственного числа глагола в Present Indefinite;

б) признаком множественного числа имени существительного;

в) показателем притяжательного падежа имени существительного.

Переведите предложения на русский язык.

  1. Animal husbandry supplies industry with raw materials.

  2. Farmer’s work is not an easy work.

  3. Farm animals produce meat, milk and eggs.

II. Перепишите следующие предложения и переведите их, обращая внимание на особенности перевода на русский язык определений, выраженных именем существительных

.

1. Farm animals produce nutritious products.

2. There are many different kinds of farm buildings on the farm.

3. The pasture land occupies half of the farm area.

III. Перепишите следующие предложения, содержащие разные формы сравнения, и переведите их на русский язык.

  1. Meat is as nutritious as milk and eggs.

  2. The more we read, the more we know.

  3. She is the best student of our group.

  4. Our farm has higher crop yields now than last year.

  5. The higher is the milk yield of the cow the greater should be the amount of protein in her ration.

IV. Перепишите и письменно переведите предложения на русский язык, обращая внимание на перевод местоимений.

  1. There are some plants that are used only in medicine.

  2. I know him and his brother.

  3. Somebody knocked at the door.

  4. They have no English books.

V. Заполните пропуски нужной формой глагола to be или to have (got). Предложения переведите.

1. I… a first-year student of the Agricultural Academy.

2. They… farmers.

3. She… a large family.

4. His brother… a doctor.

5. I… a big house in a village.

VI. Перепишите предложения, подчеркните модальные глаголы. Переведите предложения, учитывая значения модальных глаголов.

  4. You should go to the library.

  5. She has to do this work.

VII. В разделе а) раскройте скобки, поставив глагол в нужное время. В каждом предложении раздела б) определите видовременную форму и залог глагола-сказуемого. Все предложения переведите на русский язык

2. Industry and agriculture (to be) the two branches of the economy.

VIII. Прочтите и переведите текст. Перепишите и письменно переведите 1, 2, 3, 4 и 5 абзацы текста.

CLASSES OF ANIMALS

1. The ordinary farm animals belong to the large group known as Vertebrata, or animals with a backbone.

2. Fishes, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals all have a backbone. All of these animals do not suckle their young, but the ordinary farm animals do, and hence they are classified as Mammalia. (Mamma is the Latin word for breast).

3. The capability to produce milk is one of the distinctive features of this group. All domestic animals are divided into three main classes: herbivorous, carnivorous and omnivorous.

4. Herbivorous animals are those that live chiefly on plants. These are: cattle, deer, horses, sheep and rabbits. As they consume coarse foods, e. g leaves and stems of plants, they need considerably larger amount of common salt than is supplied by their usual feeds.

5. The cow, the ox, the sheep and the goat belong to the ruminants (animals which chew the cud). Unlike the pig, they are capable of digesting a large quantity of coarse fibrous material due to their compound stomachs.

6. Carnivorous (flesh-eating animals) such as cats, dogs, shark, etc. need no additional salt because they live on the bodies of other animals.

Omnivorous animals, such as pigs, bears, rat and others utilize both plant and animal food.
