A Dialogue on the Topic House and Home

Jane Banks is a lucky stiff! Actually the girl wasn’t born with a silver spoon in her mouth. She’s got to work a lot to make her living. But this week she is in luck. There was a lottery in the supermarket not far from her apartment building. Jane never took seriously such things, they organize such lucky dips to learn your address and then send hundreds of useless ads. But this time she decided to try her luck and bought a ticket. Out of the blue, the girl learned she was the one to win 10 million pound prize! Now she is considering the purchase of her own house that would be a real home for her. The real estate agent is calling her to discuss the houses she has chosen for her client:

  • Hello, could I talk to Ms Banks, please?

  • That’s me, who’s calling?

  • Susan, the Real Estate Agency “Freedom”. I’d like to discuss with you in more detail your future co-operation with us…

  • Awesome! I’d love to know more about the items on the market.

  • Surely, I’ve got a couple of offers for sale. Shall I say a few words about each, before you see hem with your own eyes?

  • Thanks, with pleasure. I remember the last time you offered me a semi-detached house with charming garden and spacious rooms. But the stairs were in bad condition and the drainpipe needed immediate repairing.

  • Oh, this time we were more attentive and picked up the offers more carefully. So, the first offer is a bungalow. It is sold in the first residential development just south of the city. The exterior is rather modest, but the interior is worth talking about. It is fully furnished, down to the smallest details. Trust me, it’s a dream-like interior of the English country house.

  • Really? What about the swimming pool and hot-house to grow flowers in it? Moreover, I’d like to know more about my neighbors (if any).

  • Surely, the swimming pool is just in the backyard, unfortunately there is no hot-house there, but we can assist you in every way to construct it. As for the neighbors, there are none so far.

  • Magnificent! But I need more time to think it over. Could you please send me more information via e-mail?

  • With pleasure. I’ll attach more photos and house projects of the similar type, but believe me, this one is the best.

  • Thanks a lot, I’ll check my mail today. Good bye!

  • Bye-bye, let me know in what way I can help you.

  • Thanks, I will.
