District (noun) –1. округ, район, e.g. They live in a new district of Kiev. 2. Область, місцевість, e.g. He lived in the English lake district. Their district stretches nearly 150 miles, from the mountains to the sea. 3. геогр. назва, округ, e.g. District of Columbia.

Colloc. neighbouring, surrounding, central district, e.g. Fire crews from all the surrounding districts helped to fight the fires in the city. Every city has its central business district.
Outlying, remote district, e.g. A new railway station to help people commuting from outlying districts.
Rich, wealthy, poor, working-class district, e.g. The building was located in the poorest districts of the city.

Terrace (noun) – 1. Ряд будинків уздовж вулиці, e.g. Terrace houses are typical for England. Our house is in a long Vistorian house in north London. 2. To locate (regular verb) – 1. Визначати місцезнаходження, e.g. They managed to locate the enemy’s camp. 2. Оселитися, e.g. The company has located on the West Coast. 3. Розташовувати(ся), usu. passive, e.g. The house is conveniently located, about two hundred meters from the shopping centre. 4. Знайти (показати) місцезнаходження чогось, e.g. Can you help me to locate the town on the map?
To be located – розміщуватися, e.g. to be conveniently (ideally, strategically, physically) located. Two people can meet in virtual reality even if physically located in different continents.

Flat (noun) – квартира. Amer. (Apartment), e.g. The flat is well-planned (badly-planned, cosy, comfortable, well laid out, modern, shabby, furnished, unfurnished, one-room, two-room, one-bedroomed, bachelor flat). Even the prices of small bachelor flats are unbelievable.
The flat overlooks smth. (faces smth.). There is a marvelous block of flats overlooking the marina (a specially designed harbour for yachts and small boats).
Flat (adj.) – плоский, рівний, горизонтальний, e.g. There were a lot of low buildings with flat roofs.

Tiny (adj.) – крихітний, дуже малий, e.g. A tiny cottage was surrounded by the garden. Look at his tiny fingers, aren’t they sweet?

Floor (noun) – 1. Підлога, настил, e.g. I can’t sleep on the bare floor! (carpeted, parquet, tiled, wooden, bathroom, kitchen floor). Can you help me to clean (mop, polish, sweep, wash, wax) the floor? 2. поверх. e. g. ground, first, second etc. floor, lower, upper floor. The offices occupy the two top floors of the building.
