Metal Crack Resistance for Oil Pipelines.

Various types of destruction of pipe metal at oil pipelines, which have been operated for a long time, are analyzed considering the changes in the steel structure, mechanical performances and chemical composition. Special attention is given to the problems in crack resistance of pipe steels. The independence of crack resistance from integral mechanical parameters of oil pipeline metal is shown. Also given are the laws of variations for parameters of the thin structure for pipe steels marked 17GS, 14KHGS, and others; on the base of this data the relationship between crack resistance and variation of parameters of the thin structure caused by metal fatigue and deformation ageing is shown for steel marks mentioned.

Advisable for specialists dealing with operation of oil pipelines and pipe production.
