Department Stores in the usa Barneys

Barneys New York is an American chain of luxury department stores headquartered in New York City. The chain owns flagship stores in New York City, Beverly Hills, and Chicago, all of which have restaurants operated by third parties. Smaller stores can be found in other locations across the United States.

Brands sold include a number of high-end labels such as Saint Laurent Paris, The Row, Rick Owens, Burberry Prorsum, Thom Browne and Bettanin& Venturi, as well as Barneys private label merchandise.

Macy's

Macy's, originally R. H. Macy & Co., is a mid-range chain of department stores owned by American multinational corporation Macy’s, Inc. It is one of two divisions owned by the company, with the other being the upscale Bloomingdale’s. As of January 2014, the Macy's division operates 789 department store locations in the continental United States, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and Guam, including a prominent Herald Square flagship location in Midtown Manhattan, New York City.

Macy's is known for its niche in popular culture and the diversity of its merchandise. Most locations compete with Belk, Dillard’s, Kohl’s, Boscov’s and Sears; upscale locations compete with Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Lord&Taylor, Saks Fifth Avenue and Von Maur. Macy's has conducted the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City since 1924 and has sponsored the city's annual Fourth of July fireworks display since 1976. Macy's flagship store on Herald Square is advertised as the largest in the world, and draws shoppers from well beyond the New York City Metropolitan Area. The venue is in close proximity to other Manhattan landmarks, including the Koreatown, Pennsylvania Station, and Madison Square Garden. As of 2012, Macy's is the largest U.S. department store company by retail sales and is the 16th-largest retailer in the United States in 2013 in terms of revenue.

Kohl's

Kohl's Corporation is an American department store retail chain. The first "Kohl" store was a supermarket founded in 1946, and the first Kohl department store was founded in 1962. In 1972, British-American Tobacco Company took a controlling interest in the company and the Kohl family left the management of the company in 1979. A group of investors purchased the company in 1986 from British-American Tobacco and later took it public in 1992. It is the second largest department store by retail sales in the United States after Macy’s

The company is headquartered in the Milwaukee suburb of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, operating 1,162 stores in 49 states. Kohl's is America's largest department store chain by the number of stores as of February 2013—surpassing its biggest competitor, J.C. Penney in May 2012. 

Lord & Taylor

Lord & Taylor, based in Manhattan, New York City, is the oldest upscale, specialty-retail department store chain in the United States. Lord & Taylor consists of 50 stores and lordandtaylor.com. Lord & Taylor's main competitors are Barneys, Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman. It also competes with Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom and corporate cousin Saks Fifth Avenue. The company's logo was designed by Andrew Geller, at the time working with Raymond Loewyand further developed and refined by Lord & Taylor staff layout artist Jules Tartaglia.
