The letter 3 stands for [g] initially before any consonant or in any position after consonant, and also before a, o, u (all back vowels), for [j] – before and after front vowels (e, i, y), for [] – after r and between the back vowels (a, o, u), for [g’] – after c.

PRACTICE ASSIGNMENT
1. Determine the type of the following nouns: nama, fæder, sunu, mete, talu.
2. Give the forms which were used in OE for modern they, them.
