In Chapter 6, you build this circuit to drive the parabolic microphone that picks up sounds at a distance. Be careful with this circuit when placing the wires so that they don’t get too close and cause feedback.

Chapter 11 is where you go to create this little bubble cart that you control with infrared light. This is just like controlling your TV, only you get to watch this guy dart around the room and go backward, which is way more entertaining than most TV shows.

A receiver circuit is housed in one plastic pumpkin, and another pumpkin houses the transmitter (see Chapter 9). When somebody walks between the two, a beam of infrared light is disrupted and a recorded message plays using a sound chip.

The Couch Petato circuit from Chapter 14 uses a vibration sensor to detect your pet when it jumps on a piece of furniture, and a sound chip to tell your cat to scat.
