Santa Fe

Santa Fe is the capital of New Mexico. Founded in 1609, Santa Fe is the second oldest city in the United States. It is located on a seven-thousand-foot-high plateau. The remains of a two-thousand-year-old Pueblo Indian civilization surrounds the city.

In the winter, Santa Fe's population of a little over fifty thousand doubles with the arrival of the skiers. The Santa Fe Ski Area offers many challenging slopes. The Tao ski valley, located close by, also attracts large numbers of skiers.

The Santa Fe Railroad is one of the city's popular attractions. Santa Fe is a city of museums, galleries, arts, and crafts. Among the most interesting are the Museum of Fine Arts, The Museum of Indian Arts and Crafts, and The Museum of New Mexico.

You will also want to visit the Wheelwright Museum of The American Indian. The Wheelwright displays works of all Native American cultures. The Plaza is the heart of Santa Fe. There you will see local native American craftspeople displaying and selling their crafts.

Santa Fe is a treasure house of dramatic sculpture. Many of these statues depict Native American people and themes. The Western cowboy culture is also well represented in Santa Fe's exciting art.

You will want to visit the Shindoni Foundry and Glassworks. There you will be able to watch the foundry's workers practice their fascinating craft. You will see ample evidence of Santa Fe's Spanish heritage.

There are beautiful churches, missions, and monastaries everywhere for you to visit. Among these is the San Miguel Mission built in 1636. It is the oldest church still in use in the United States. In the Loretto Chapel, you will see the "Miraculous Staircase." Some people believe the staircase was built by St. Joseph.

Be sure to visit Santa Fe when you are in America. Here Native American culture, Spanish culture, and modern American Western culture melt together to provide a unique view of American life.

Boston

Founded in 1630, Boston, the capital of Massachusetts, is one of America's most interesting cities. A city on the water, Boston has been a great seaport and maritime center.

Boston is also famous for the key role it played in the American Revolutionary War. The name of Paul Revere, the great revolutionary hero, is intimately associated with the city. Monuments and landmarks associated with Paul Revere may be seen in many parts of Boston.

Everywhere you go in Boston you will be able to see stately old houses and mansions. Many of these buildings have strong historical ties to the city.

Boston is a city of waterfronts, fishing, sailing, and just about any activity associated with the ocean.

Boston is also a wonderful place to relax. With its many parks, especially the Boston Commons, Boston lends itself to fun and relaxation outdoors. Be sure to ride the famous Swan boats on the lake in the Boston Commons. Take time to stroll in the parks and along the waterways.

Be certain to find time to visit Faneuil Hall Marketplace, a city in itself. You’ll see street performers, eat any kind of food imaginable, and just enjoy the upbeat atmosphere of people at play and relaxing.

Boston is the educational capital of America. Harvard College, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston College, Boston University, Emerson University, Tufts University, the list is almost endless. You should find time to tour these beautiful and stimulating campuses.

Boston is a city of sports. The Boston Marathon, baseball, football, ice hockey and basketball are all worth seeing. And if you like to ski, you'll find excellent opportunities not too far from the city. Don't forget fishing, tennis, golf, and water sports.

If you like to eat, then Boston is the place for you. You'll find some of the best seafood in America in Boston. And in its numerous ethnic neighborhoods, you'll find an endless variety of international dishes. Italian food, all types of Asian food, hearty New England dishes, everything for everyone, from the snacker to the gourmand.

And if you are one of those who like to "shop until you drop," then Boston is again the place for you. Boston's Newbury St. is a shopping capital!

And if you like night life, then you're in the right place. There's as much culture, both classical and popular, as a person could desire. Jazz cellars, discos, clubs, the Boston Symphony and Ballet, fine restaurants, all await the nightime visitor.
