SPEECH PATTERNS TO LEARN

I was the first to come here. He looks modest.

He was the first to recognize me. She looks shy.

She was the first to leave London. Betsy looks embarrassed.

Who was the first to greet him? Robert looks gloomy.

Who was the last to leave for London? Ann looks funny.

There is a little snow this winter. I feel chilly.

We have a little time. Robert feels guilty.

I’m afraid we have very little time. Ann feels well.

There is a little water in the glass. Jane feels helpless.

I could hardly walk, so tired I was. The street is very quiet.

I hardly think they will go to Oslo. Our street is very clean.

♫ 1 -Lauren, you look upset.

-Yes. I had a bad day yesterday.

-I burnt myself while I was cooking dinner.

-That's good news.

-Yes, much better thanks.

-Yes, it’s a nice day for a walk.

-Don’t you want to have breakfast first?

-No, I’m not very hungry.

-Are you going to visit friends?

-No, I’m just going for a walk, that’s all.

-Why don’t you go to Speakers’ Corner?

-Yes, I think I will. Bye.

11 -Hello, Mr. Blake. We’re not late, are we?

-Hello, Jane. No, you’re not late. I was a little early.
