Al bar
In the café
In a typical café-bar you can either stand at the counter or sit at a table with waiter service, which can be more expensive. You can have a variety of soft or alcoholic drinks. The standard coffee is an espresso, a small, black coffee. You can also order pastries, sandwiches, and other snacks.

Cultural tip Italians are not big tea-drinkers and when they do have tea, they add some lemon rather than milk. So if you want milk in your tea, you may have to ask for a little cold milk (“un po’ di latte freddo”).
