At the pharmacy
Italian pharmacists study for over four years to get their licenses, and they can give advice about minor health problems and are permitted to dispense a wide variety of medicines, even giving injections, if necessary. There is a duty pharmacist (farmacia di turno) in most towns.

Il corpo
The body
A common phrase for talking about aches and pains is mi fa male il/la… (my … hurts). Another useful expression is ho un dolore a… (I have a pain in…). Note that a joins with the definite article (the) to produce these combinations: il (al), lo (allo), la (alla), gli (agli), i (ai), and le (alle).
