Предлагаемое пособие содержит учебно-тренировочный материал по всем
аспектам речевой деятельности английского языка. Практикум состоит из 8
текстов, содержащих разнообразный лексико-грамматический материал на базе
актуальной информации, комплекс тренировочных упражнений и творческих
заданий для активизации и закрепления полученных знаний, умений и навыков,
справочный грамматический материал по морфологии, словообразованию и
синтаксису.
Целью данного учебного пособия является развитие навыков разговорной
речи на английском языке.

Введение
Дисциплина «Иностранный язык (английский)» относится к базовой части
Блока 1 «Дисциплины (модули)»
Данное учебное пособие рекомендовано для обучающихся по
направлениям: 07.03.01 Архитектура, 08.03.01Строительство, 09.03.02
Информационные системы и технологии, 13.03.02 Электроэнергетика и
электротехника, 21.03.02 Землеустройство и кадастры, 23.03.01 Технология
транспортных процессов, 38.03.01 Экономика, 38.03.04 Государственное и
муниципальное управление, 38.03.02 Менеджмент, 38.05.02 Таможенное дело,

Предлагаемое пособие представляет собой практикум по темам темам
«Высшее образование», «Жизнь в XXI веке» и направлено на формирование

- способность к коммуникации в устной и письменной формах на русском
и иностранном языках для решения задач межличностного и межкультурного
взаимодействия.
Данная компетенция формируется в процессе выполнения лексико-
грамматических упражнений и творческих заданий для активизации и
закрепления полученных знаний, умений и навыков на базе актуальной
информации предлагаемых текстов указанной тематики.

Text 1 The South Ural University of Technology
1) The South Ural University of Technology is one of the largest and most
prominent Higher Educational Institutions in the city of Chelyabinsk. It is a leading
center of education, science and culture.
2) It was founded in 1996.
3) There are branches in several cities of Russia: in Zlatoust, Kartaly, Kurgan.
4) More than 5,000 students study at our University. It is their alma mater.
5) There are some forms of learning there, such as full-time and part-time.
6) In our University, there are above 20 specialities, for example, "Economics",
"Management", "Design", "Economic Security", "Customs Business", "Architecture",
"Jurisprudence", "Information Technology", etc.
7) Graduates of our University get international qualification "Bachelor" and
"Master". In some disciplines there is also a degree of "Specialist" for example,
"Economic Security".
8) Duration of study for full-time students with a qualification "Bachelor" is 3
or 4 years, with the degree of "Master" - 2 years, with a degree of "Specialist" - 5 or 6
years. Part-time learning is shorter or longer.
9) Our University has a lot of highly qualified and experienced teachers and
professors: 12 doctors, 65 candidates of sciences.
10) Students learn general educational and special subjects, such as
Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Economic History, Sociology, Psychology, Foreign
languages.
11) The teaching combines following types of training sessions: lectures,
practical classes and seminars.
12) Our University is a modern Higher School. Students are available to
multimedia classrooms, a library with access to the Internet, computer rooms, gyms,
reading halls.
13) Study at our University allows the students to develop intellectually,
physically and culturally. There are sports clubs for volleyball, basketball, football.
14) For students who are fond of art there are a choreographic studio, a vocal
studio, the student newspaper there.
15) There are many famous and successful people among the graduates of our
University: statesmen, economists and experts in various sectors of economy.
16) Studying is hard, but interesting and rich in content. The motto of students
around the world says: Per Aspera Ad Astra!

Text 2 The Modern System of Higher Education in Russia
One of the important events in the development of the system of modern higher
education occurred in 2003 when Russia signed the Bologna Declaration. The Bologna
Process is a convergence and unification of the higher education systems of European
countries with a view to creating a unified space for higher education. The declaration
was signed by 47 countries, including Russia. Similar levels of higher education give
students from different countries the possibility of free movement between universities
during the period of study (internships and international exchanges for both teachers
and students, participation in international projects), as well as employment in any
participating country of the Bologna Process without the need to confirm a diploma or
obtain additional education.
By 2010, Russia reformed the national education system in accordance with the
main provisions of the Bologna Declaration: along with specialization and
postgraduate study, bachelor's and master's degrees were introduced, as is customary
in European universities. Russian universities began to give to the graduates a single
sample for bachelor's and master's degrees, as well as a European supplement to the
diploma in English, which is necessary for continuing education or employment
abroad.
Levels of education
According to the latest Russian legislation, there are three levels of higher
education in our country:
1. Higher education - bachelor's degree;
2. Higher education - specialty, master's degree;
3. Higher education - training of highly qualified personnel.
Bachelor's program
Bachelor is an academic degree, which a student of a higher educational
institution receives after acquiring and confirming basic knowledge in the chosen area
of training (specialty). Admission to the bachelor’s degree is madeon a competitive
basis based on the results of the Unified State Exam (USE), but this applies only to
applicants with a secondary general education. Graduates of professional educational
organizations (colleges, technical schools) enter the undergraduate programs for
internal entrance examinations on the basis of a diploma. Bachelor has the right after
taking special exams to enter the next level of education and obtain a master's or
specialist degree. Bachelor's degree providesample opportunities for employment due
to the basic, basic, knowledge necessary to start a career. Duration of study in the
bachelor's degree is 4 years for graduates of ordinary 11-year schools and, as a rule, 3
years for graduates of professional educational institutions. Also, the bachelor's
