Article 9. Shape of Rivets
For riveted joints, rivets having proper shapes suitable for the purposes shall be used. As a rule, the rivets used for steel penstocks, hydraulic gates and steel structures shall be of round head or oval countersunk head types.

Article 10. Riveted Joint
The strength of rivets to be used for the design calculation shall be either shearing strengths of rivets or bearing strengths of members by rivets, whichever is smaller. •
Rivet holes shall be a nominal diameter plus 1mm fof those having less than 16mm nominal diameters, and plus 1.5mm for those having more than 19mm nominal diameters.
In addition to those specified in Section 1, other considerations should be directed to riveted joints.
Description: Omitted
Article 11. Riveting
Before riveting, the contact faces shall be thoroughly cleaned, the rivet holes accurately aligned, and the contact faces sufficiently tightened by temporary bolts.
A rivet hammer shall be used for riveting. As a rule, an air rivet holder shall be used as a rivet holder.
Rivets applied shall fill the holes and the rivet heads shall be of the specified shapes, and rivets shall be free from any defects such as looseness, overheating, detrimental cracks, separation, etc.
Defective rivets shall be removed and replaced.
