Характеристика действия

Present Indefinite

Present Continuous

Как?

Обычное, регулярное, повторяющееся действие, факт

Глагол

Длительное действие, процесс, протекающий в определенный момент или период времени.

be + -ing

Когда?

1) usually, generally, always, never, often, seldom, every day, sometimes

2) будущее действие, связанное с графиком, расписанием

1) now, at present, at the moment

Listen; look; I see. ..; l hear...

2) будущее запланированное

действие

She lives in London.

I work in my garden every day.

The next train leaves in an hour.

Некоторые глаголы не могут иметь форму Continuous,так как в их значении уже содержится идея непрерывного действия.

1. Глаголы ментальной деятельности: to know, to believe, to feel, to think (= have an opinion), to doubt, to guess, to imagine, to mean, to realise, to remember, to recognize, to suppose, to understand.

  • I believe in God. Я верю в Бога.

  • I don't recognize him. Я не узнаю его.

  • I mean this Monday, not the next one. Я имею в виду этот понедель­ник, а не следующий.

2. Глаголы выражения отношений: to love, to like, to dislike, to hate, to prefer, to care, to appreciate, to adore, to seem/appear.

  • Не loves music. Он любит музыку.

  • I hate getting up early. Я ненавижу рано вставать.

  • I appreciate your help. Я ценю вашу помощь.

  • Не seems (to be) a nice man. Он, кажется, хороший человек.

3. Глаголы пяти чувств: to see, to hear, to smell, to taste, to touch.

  • Thefoodtastes good. Эта еда хороша на вкус (вкусная).

  • I smell something burning. Я чувствую, что-то горит.

4. Глаголы, выражающие абстрактные отношения: to be, to have,, to contain, to depend, to belong, to concern, to consist of, to deserve, to fit, to include, to involve, to lack, to matter, to resemble, to cost, to measure.

  • Itdoesn't matter. Это не имеет значения.

  • Не lacks tact. У него нет такта.

  • Не deserves anaward. Он заслуживает награды.

5. Глаголы, обозначающие влияние или эффект: to owe, to astonish, to impress, to please, to satisfy, to surprise.

  • He always impresses me by his knowledge. Его знания производят не меня глубокое впечатление.

  • She doesn't satisfy our demand. Она не удовлетворяет нашим требованиям.

6. Глаголы обладания и желания: to own, to possess, to have, to need to want, to wish.

  • Не owns a factory. Он.владеет фабрикой.

  • I need your help. Мне нужна ваша помощь.

  • Не wants to see you now. Он хочет видеть тебя сейчас.

!NBГлаголыlook at, listen to, mean (намереваться), think (иметь в мыс­лях) могут употребляться в формеContinuous.

  • She is always looking at the child with love.

  • Don't turn the radio off. I'm listening to the news.

  • I've been meaning to call you since morning (= intending).

  • What are you thinking about?

!But: I think the film is boring (= have an opinion).
