Fundamental Educational Targets

  1. access to a wealth of information

  2. information management competence (to find, read, evaluate, process, create info)

  3. building information communication competence as part of one’s communicative competence

  4. raising and cultivating six new types of modern culture:

  • information culture

  • screen culture

  • cyberspace culture

  • internet culture

  • world awareness culture

  • global citizenship awareness culture

As interaction of 6 dimensions of FLL:

    • building communicative competence

    • building an intercultural competence

    • tele-participating in a dialogue of cultures

    • communicative observation

    • reinforcing authentic language learning and use

    • arranging wider social contacts

Disadvantages and Pitfalls of IALL:

  • needs specials planning and a well-eqiped classroom

  • mostly focuses on writing, reading, interpreting and searching

  • communication (writing) often becomes unsupervised

  • will take a teacher time to get accustomed

  • a lot of language problems for the teacher: hard to predict the language areas and communicative situations, so it needs a teacher’s special competences:

    • ability to react to unpredictable language-communicative situation

    • readiness to change his/her role as a teacher, facilitator, moderator, adviser, consultant

    • readiness to continue learning and maintaining consultant competence and professional confidence
