to miaow; korean: nyaong]; (Hahn) kikeriki: (kkokkio) [cock → to crow; Korean: kkokkio), etc.]. Next are the words that reproduce psychophysiological sounds (murmeln:(sogongorida) [to miaow - Korean: sogongorida). According to the results of Kostrzewa's studies, a relatively large group is also presented by the lexemes imitating sounds of water (plätschern: (jol jol) [to splash - Korean: yol yol; tröpfeln (des Regens in kleinen

Blasen): (bangul bangul) [to spot with rain - korean: bangul bangul], etc.

Studying the phenomenon "sentence" in the Korean language, which refers to the agglutinating languages of the Ural-and-Altaic language family, Kostrzewa notes that the subject- object-verb structure (SOV) is characteristic of the Korean language. The verbs are accompanied by suffixes and can indicate different language styles due to the marking of time, aspect, mood and formative forms. Names, pronouns and other parts of speech are joined by particles that mark their role in the sentence. The results of the studies show that there are no prepositions in the Korean language. Most grammatical forms and other functional relations, which are marked in English by prepositions, subordinate and coordinative conjunctions are realized in the Korean language owing to post-prepositional particles. The usual structure of a Korean sentence is realized according to the following pattern: 1. An adverbial modifier of time. 2. An adverbial modifier of place. 3. A subject-nominal phrase. 4. A nominal phrase in the dative case. 5. An adverbial modifier of manner. 6. An object-nominal phrase. 7. A verb.

Professor Kostrzewa devotes a separate unit to the consideration of a relative clause and its linguistic realizations in the German and Korean languages (partly in Japanese and Chinese, as well). In this case the author makes distinctions between restrictive and non-restrictive relative clauses and, accordingly, between their semantic and pragmatic functions. On the basis of w-words (which mean the words was (what), wie (how), wofür (for what), woran (about something), including wo ("where")), there is described the realization of the endings of relative clauses, the possibility of different realizations being noted in the standard language and dialect. The scientist believes that the peculiarities of the formation of a relative clause in the Korean and Japanese languages are determined by the status of their belonging to the agglutinating languages, for which "the beginning – the end" principle is relevant. The peculiarities of a relative clause in Chinese are described on the basis of a specific structural scheme of the theme-rema.

Comparing German and Korean proverbs, Professor Kostrzewa singles out already existing semantic correspondences between them (e.g.: Ein blindes Huhn findet auch einmal ein Korn (Even a blind hen will one day find a grain) and korean: (Auch in ein Mauseloch Fällt irgendwann einmal ein Lichtstrahl) ("Even into a mouse hole a ray of light will some time penetrate"), and he also notes the cases when Korean proverbs do not have any correspondence in German (e.g.: Auch einen Weg von Tausend Meilen beginnt man mit Einem Schritt ("The path of 1000 miles, starts with one step"); Der hohe Baum ist de dem Wind am stärksten ausgesetzt.

("A tall tree is subjected to the strongest pressure of the wind"), Auch Affen fallen aus den Bäumen. ("Even monkeys fall from trees"); Sammele Staub, um einem Berg zu errichten. "Collect (even) dust to build a mountain ", etc.

In the opinion of Kostrzewa and other researchers, the goal of today's paremiological researches could consist in compiling the so-called "Proverbial Minimum". From a culturological point of view, this fact is of interest for the reason that proverbs, explicating the most typical signs generalized in the minds of native speakers, can give an idea of how speakers see the world.

Touching on the problem of borrowed and foreign words in German and Korean, Professor Kostrzewa stresses that both languages have been subjected to different linguistic influ-

ences during their etymological development. If the Old Upper-German language has been mainly influenced by the Latin and Greek languages, then later French has had a predominant influence on the language of the neighboring countries. With the beginning of the industrialization, the influence of British and then American English became very significant. The development of the German language has been also influenced by such languages as: Dutch, Scandinavian and Yiddish.

Concerning the Korean language, the author concludes that the Korean language has been significantly influenced by Japanese, Chinese, Russian, Mongolian, Manchu troops that have been in Korea at various times. In recent years, according to Kostrzewa, more linguistic changes have been taking place in American English, especially in the field of digital communications. Now one can observe a tendency to limit linguistic influence ("movement for linguistic purification"). Despite the existence of such a movement, globalization constantly influences the field of linguistics.

A special significance of this book lies in the fact that all the theoretical and practically oriented results presented here are based on Professor Frank Kostrzewa's own research and pedagogical experience. Being a remarkable specialist in the field of German studies and for many years being engaged in teaching German to Korean students in leading universities in Seoul, Professor Kostrzewa has accumulated diverse knowledge of the Korean language and the richest national culture of the Korean people. And as is known, it is the practice that is the criterion of the truth. Nothing convinces readers vs. students stronger than the accumulated labor (professional) and scientific research experience, since it is the experience that is regarded as the "mother of all the sciences", as the "beginning of all the arts and any knowledge" (Aristotle).

One of special advantages of the book under review is also its interdisciplinary character. Thus, many relevant theories and concepts analyzed by the author are aimed at studying language phenomena viewed from the position of various spheres of knowledge (e.g., in the aspect of culturology, pedagogy, methodology and didactics, folklore studies, onomatopoetics, etc.) are in close interaction and they complement each other.

Of admiration is a strong argumentative base that forms the foundation of the entire linguistic concept of the author.

The value of this work is determined by the fact that the strategies of teaching and learning foreign languages (based on the comparison of the language pair (German - Korean)), the methodology of contrasting and linguistic analysis, as well as relevant and scientifically significant research results developed by Professor Kostrzewa can be extrapolated to the study of other language systems.

Equally important is the fact that Professor Kostrzewa uses Japanese and Chinese, along with the Korean language, as languages being opposed to the German language, that allows us to most vividly and convincingly demonstrate the differences between inflected and agglutinating languages.

Professor Kostrzewa pays great attention to the description and analysis of difficulties in mastering the German and Korean languages. Focusing on language difficulties is of primary importance for all those who study foreign languages.

A practical importance of this book is quite obvious, since every person who studies the German or Korean languages, as well as any linguist will find here valuable scientific thoughts and will be able to get acquainted with well-grounded approaches to contrasting and linguistic analysis. The book opens an access to the invaluable riches of the both languages (German and Korean), since, as J. Wolfgang von Goethe rightly noted: "Language embodies the atmosphere of the country in a peculiar way. The acquaintance with Professor Kostrzewa`s book will allow us to deeper and more accurate perceive and understand language facts and phenomena related to inflected and agglutinating languages. Thanks to the description of innovative approaches to practical teaching of foreign languages, stated by Professor Kostrzewa in his book, the work

can be recommended as a kind of canon for teachers and students studying German and Korean. It is also recommended for independent work, lecture and seminar classes and can be used as a reliable encyclopedic reference book.

From the methodical point of view, of great value is the additional bibliographical literature proposed by Professor Kostrzewa for each of the 13 units presented in his work, because it provides an opportunity to analyze in detail the author's stated problems.

In conclusion, I would like to refer to the following quotation by W. von Humboldt: "In no other case the human soul is more joyful than when it finds the work pleasing to the soul" ("Nie ist das menschliche Gemüt heiterer gestimmt, als wenn es seine richtige Arbeit gefunden hat "). Linguists from all the directions will be grateful to Professor Frank Kostrzewa for this remarkable work "pleasing to the soul", in which the universal and specific linguistic phenomena, the most important for the German and Korean languages, are competently and convincingly analyzed and described, both from the position of a contrastive-and-linguistic approach and from a multi-lingual one.

Information about 6-th International Scientific Conference “Language and Intercultural Communication”, which Took Place on 17th -20th May 2017 in Vilnius – Minsk

From 17 to 20 May, 2017 the VI International Scientific Conference “Language and Intercultural Communication” was held in Vilnius and Minsk. The conference was co-hosted by Universities of Belarus and Lithuania: Philological faculties of the Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tank and the Lithuanian University of Educology (University of Educational Sciences). The conference was held for the sixth time and traditionally worked on two venues: it was opened on May 17 in Vilnius (Lithuanian University of Educology) and ended on May 20 in Minsk (the Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tank). During four days philologists from Belarus, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, the Ukraine, Russia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, and China discussed the latest achievements of linguistics, literary studies, cultural studies, individual techniques.

At the official opening ceremony the participants of the conference were greeted by Gajutis Algirdas, the rector of the Lithuanian University of Educology, doctor of science, academician. In his speech he stressed that the importance of language in the society is enormous: with the help of the language we can develop science, art, technology, etc. Peoples speak different languages, but one goal is pursued - to achieve mutual understanding. In particular the rector noted that people should observe the rules of etiquette - the so-called speech culture that the society is not degraded, and helps people communicate competently and correctly. And there the significant role of language in the life of society is reflected. This is an actual problem today, since it is impossible to solve social, cultural and economic problems without the delivered speech culture.

Then the floor was given to Kundrotas Gintautas, the dean of the faculty of humanitarian education of Lithuanian University of Educology, PhD (Dr. habil), the professor. He noted that only the education system is trying to preserve the traditional speech culture of Russia, and this imposes a special responsibility on school teachers, university professors, and every person receiving higher education. The only way to preserve the Russian language as a language of civilization, science and culture is to help a person receiving education to understand that perfect knowledge of Russian language makes him an aristocrat of the spirit, a person who is able to think analytically, deeply feel, express his thoughts and feelings, convince others and to succeed.

Ph.D., Associate Professor Chechetka V.I. from Russia made a report "Linguistic and Cultural Concepts in Germanic Heroic Epic." at the plenary meeting. It was noted in the report the high importance of the study of medieval literature, which reflects the relationship of culture, philosophy, literature, folklore in their effective continuity with the living national language and the peculiarities of the German national language consciousness.

At the plenary meeting big interest was also aroused the reports made by Nana Gaprindashvili (Tbilisi, Georgia) "Cultural Transfer: Birch Symbols in Georgian Literary Texts on Belarusian Themes" and Dyatko D.V (Minsk, Belarus) "Theoretical and Applied Aspects of Belarusian Educational Metalexicography".

An interesting report "Comparative Analysis of Polish and Russian Ethnonyms" was made by scientists from Poland Dacevich Leonarda and Stempnyak Zbigniew. Their report was devoted to ethnonyms as lexical units representing a sign of ethnic, political, religious or territorial identity. Polish scientists have analyzed the Big Dictionary of Russian nouns and Explanatory Dictionaries of the Russian language, defined the word-formation types of ethnonyms and revealed their great diversity. It was emphasized that due to the changes of the world political

map, with the approval of new states a large number of new ethnonyms will appear which should be studied and analyzed.

At the concurrent workshop "Language in the Multicultural Environment. Language as a Phenomenon of a Dialogue of Cultures. Speech Behaviour. Speech Etiquette” the report "The Research and Description of the National Peculiarities of the Word Semantics» by Ph.D., Associate Professor Lukina L.V. was presented. The report was devoted to the problems of contrastive linguistics, as one of the areas of comparative linguistics. It was noted that the investigation and description of the national peculiarities of any language is primarily connected with the study of vocabulary. It is based on the fact that in the vocabulary all historical and social phenomena of the society are constantly reflected, the culture of the people is materialized. The study of the national peculiarities of the word semantics is of particular importance because with this problem constantly faced translators during the translation process, as well as teachers teaching a foreign language.

An interesting report "Denglisch" was made by M.Belyaeva (Moscow, Russia) as an example of the dialogue of cultures. In particular, the speaker stressed that the expansion of English into European languages is unprecedented, which is objectively explained by the importance of English as a language of international communication, as the language of computerization of all life processes. Global penetration of Anglicisms in, for example, the German language takes place in the 21st century, and the intertwining of the two cultures, based on the related Germanic languages, has reached the highest point, when questions have been raised about the loss of the German language as the main component of German culture.

Work was also carried out at the special interest group session "National-cultural and Linguistic Borrowings as a Reflection of Intercultural Interactions. Lingua-cultural studies, Ethnic Culture and Ethnolinguistics ","Intercultural Communication and the Media”, “Cultural and Communicative Aspects of the Reception of the Literary Text ","Methods of Teaching the

Language in a Multicultural Environment”, “Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language in

School and University. "

The Belarusian part of the conference began on May 19 and the participants of the conference were greeted by A.I. Zhuk, the rector of the Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tank, doctor of pedagogical science, professor, who wished the participants of the conference the fruitful work.

At the plenary meeting the Dean of the Faculty of Philology of the Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tanka, Doctor of Philology, Professor Vasily Denisovich Starichyonok also made a speech. In his report Professor V.D. Starichyonok said about the importance of the Russian language in the society and stressed that it is difficult to overestimate the role of the Russian language in the life of every person and in the life of the whole country. Today the Russian language participating in the process of globalization of the world and the integration of Europe passes a unique test of vitality. The Russian language is also experiencing the crisis in Belarus. It is characterized by a sharp decline in the level of literacy and the culture of speech in the student community, in the media, in professional and everyday communication, as well as in the political sphere. The speaker stressed that we are witnessing that the language loses its impact force, liveliness and accuracy. What we watch on TV and hear on the radio, often only remotely resembles a great and mighty Russian language. And that’s why philologists, philosophers and psychologists have raised the problems of the ecology of language and culture, pollution of the language environment.

tics and the Language of "possible" worlds," "Cultural and Communicative Aspects of the Reception of the Literary Text,” “Images of the Language of the Literary Text as a Condition for its Perception," “Belarusian and Lithuanian Languages Abroad,” “Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language in School and University. "

The section meeting "The Language in the Multicultural Environment" was devoted to the problems of speech behaviour and etiquette and the communicative possibilities of a language in the multicultural society. A wide range of problems was discussed at the section meeting "National-cultural and Linguistic Borrowings as a Reflection of Intercultural Interactions": from language teaching methods to the functioning of the media in the conditions of a polylogue of cultures. It should be noted the fruitful work of the workshops "Cultural and Communicative Aspects of the Reception of the Literary Text" and "Linguistic Culture, Ethnic Culture and Ethnolinguistics in the Theory and Practice of Teaching Languages.”

Numerous linguists from different countries took part at the plenary and section meetings, workshops and master-classes. For example, the report of Irina Prozhogina (Kiev, the Ukraine) was devoted to the study of prepositional-case forms of nouns with percussive prepositions in the course of Russian as a foreign language. The reports made by Dvlevich Barbara (Vilnius, Lithuania) "Names of Fruits and Berries in Polish, Russian and Lithuanian Languages", Shukurbeyli T.G. (Baku, Azerbaijan) "Non-equivalent Vocabulary and a Bilingual Dictionary (problems of transferring Azerbaijani non-equivalent vocabulary to the Belarusian language)", Hayan Wang (Lanzhou, China) devoted to the phenomenon of homonymy in Russian and Chinese languages, Uzule Kristine (Riga, Latvia) “The Comfort Zone of L2 in Multicultural and Multilingual Society: Interrelation of Cognitive and Sociological Factors” and others aroused great interest.

It should be noted that along with well-known scientists young researchers, graduate students and masters presented their scientific investigations at the conference. At the closing ceremony the results of the forum in Vilnius and Minsk were summed up. Thus, International scientific conferences are necessary and useful because they allow sharing unforgettable experience, discussing scientific problems that undoubtedly affect the quality of the scientific process.
