Arrangement Styles

There are three recognized ways of handling the arrangement of a business letter’s elements on the page. You can choose any of the three. Block format is easy to learn and easy to arrange. It is widely used for both business and personal letters. In block format all lines of a letter begin at the left margin. Single spacing is used for the body of the letter within paragraphs and double spacing is used between paragraphs. In the Modified Block format heading, complimentary close, name, and signature should end near or at the right margin. Indented format is simply modified block format plus indentions (5-10 spaces) for the first lines of paragraphs.
