Higher education plays a very important role in the life of every person. It is higher education that provides our country with highly – qualified specialists for further development and progress.
Now let my introduce myself. I’m Anna Petrova. I’m 17 years old. I was born on March 15th in Voronezh. As I wanted a career connected with construction, I decided to get an engineering education.
Now I’m a first-year extra-mural student of Voronezh State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering. Our University was established in 1930.
At present it’s a large scientific and educational centre in the Voronezh region with computer classes, well-equipped laboratories, a large library with enormous fund of technical and educational literature. Students have also free access to information resources.
Our University trains architects, computer programmers, technologists, economists, road builders and the like. There are many faculties at the University but I have chosen the faculty of Civil Engineering.
In 5 years I’ll be a civil engineer. I combine work and study. It’s not so easy, of course, but the aim of my life is to become a useful, successful and respected specialist. I hope to get a good standard education.
We attend lectures and practical classes. We are always busy with studies, drawings and calculations. In June we are going to have a session. So we are to take several exams and credit tests. Practically we have no spare time. Students study Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Computer’s Technology and English. Specialized study and courses help students get a bachelor’s degree. After further study and research they get a master’s degree. In conclusion I would like to say that my student’s life at the University is active, interesting but not easy. Education is a process through which culture is preserved, values are formed, knowledge and skills are developed and information is exchanged. I’m absolutely sure that higher education is the key to success.
