Third Year Hello English First Term

1- invent يخترع شىء جديد لم يكن موجود من قبل - Graham Bill invented the telephone.

- discover يكتشف شىء كان موجـود ولكنة غير معروف - Isaac Newton discovered gravity.

- explore يستكشف شىء غريب و يعرف شىء عنه - I want to explore that old desert building .

2- help + ( to + inf. / inf. ) يساعد - The teacher helped me (to) understand the lesson.

- help with / in + n. - The teacher helped me with the lesson.

3- arrive in يصـل لمكـان كبيـر - We arrived in London an hour ago.

- arrive at يصـل لمكـان صغيـر - He has just arrived at the cinema.

- arrive بـدون حـرف جـر ( لا ياتي بعدها مفعول ) - When will you arrive?

- reach + object يصـل بـدون حـرف جـر - I reached the station an hour late.

- get to يصــل إلى ( بشىء من الجهد او الصعوبة ) - They got to the bus stop at 7:30.

4- everyday (adj.)

تستخدم ككلمة واحدة بمعني )يومي( - The details of his everyday life show that he is careful.

- every day (adv.) تستخدم ككلمتان منفصلتان بمعني كل يوم وهي في هذه الحالة حال.

- Mum goes shopping every day.

5- shoot يطلق النار من بندقية أو مسدس - A police officer shot the thief.

- erupt يثور ـ ينفجر ( بركان ) - The volcano hasn’t erupted since 1229.

- revolt يثور على وضع أو نظام -The Egyptians used to revolt against English occupation.

6- destination مكان الوصول ( المكان المقصود ) -The United States is my next destination.

- location موقع - The location of Egypt is important.

- site موقـع أثـرى / بنـاء / موقـع على الانترنت -The site is full of tourists and guides.

7- reform يقوم بإدخال تعديل أو تحسين علي نظام معين - There are important political reforms in Egypt.

- repair إصلاح ـ ترميم ( شئ أو مبنى ) - Old buildings in our street are in need of repair.

8- expect to + inf. مصدر يتوقـع - I didn’t expect to see you here.

- expect ( that ) + Sub + will + inf. - I expect you will get full marks.

9 - لاحظ استخدام فعل مفرد مع الكلمات الآتية ولكن عند الإشارة إليها بضمير نستخدم ضمير جمع:

( someone / somebody / anyone / anybody / everyone / everybody / no one / nobody (

- Everyone was happy. They enjoyed their time.

- لاحظ استخدام فعل مفرد وضمير مفرد مع الكلمات الآتية : ( ( something / anything / everything / nothing

- Something has fallen to the ground. It made a loud voice.

10 - orbit يدور حول شئ - The moon orbits the earth.

- spin يدور / يدير ( حول نفسه ) - A fan spins to make us feel cooler.

11- start / begin + (to + inf. / V. ing) - He started to play / playing football when he was six.

- ولكن عند استخدام start / begin في المضارع المستمر يأتي بعدهما to + inf. - They are starting to have lunch.

- begin / start by + V.ing - The speaker started by describing his journey to China.

- begin/ start with+ n. - The speaker started with a description of his journey to China.

12- spend + time +v.ing يقضى -I spent the summer holiday doing some work on my computer.

- spend ينفق ( يصرف ) مال - He spent a lot of money last week.

- spend money on ينفق (يصرف) مال علي - We should spend more money on education and health care

13- يُستخدم المقطع less بمعني without مع الكثير من الكلمات مثل:

- weightless منعدم الوزن / useless غير مفيد/ fruitless غير مجدي / endless بلا نهايةhelplessضعيف / عاجز

ولكن لاحظ أن كلمة priceless معناها لا يُقدر بثمن:

- Ancient Egyptian monuments are priceless.

14- look forward to + n. / V. + ing: - We look forward to a better future for our children.

15 - plane طائرة بمحرك - I don’t like travelling by plane.

- shuttle مكوك فضاء - A shuttle travels into space.

- rocket صاروخ - Astronauts fly into space by rocket.

- spaceship سفينة فضاء - A spaceship was sent into the Spacestation.

16 - cause يسبـب - The bad weather caused the fire.

- cause of سبـب - The police found out the cause of the crime.

- reason with يحاول إقـناع /يتجـادل مـع - Don’t reason with her, she won’t change her mind.

- reason for + اسـم داع / مبـرر / سبب - Can you tell me the reason for shouting?

- the reason why + جمــلة كامــلة - That is the reason why she is worried.

17 - wonder يتساءل / يتعجب - I wondered if I could borrow your bike.

- wander يتجول - Wewandered around the city centre.

18 - souvenir هدية تذكارية - We bought a lot of souvenirs when we were in Aswan.

- memory ذاكـرة - My computer has 500GB memory.

- memory ذكـري - They have no clear memory about their accident.

- memorial نُصُب تذكاري - This statue is placed here as a memorial of the leader.

- anniversary ذكري سنوية - We celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary last week.

19- treatment for علاج لـ - Scientists try hard to find a treatment for cancer.

20- route طريق (من مكان الى اخر) خط سيركما تستخدم معنويا

road طريق (سطح صلب طويل ممهد تسير عليه سائل النقل)

- I live on a bus route so I can easily get to work.

- Hard work is the best route to success. - There was an accident on Alexandria road.

21- have fun with - Space travelers can have fun with weightless football.

22- promise to = make a promise to

- He promised (made a promise) to help me with my homework.

23 - compared to / with = in comparison with / to

- In comparison with girls, boys are stronger. : Boys are stronger compared with girls.

24- queue (up)يقف في طابورلأنتظار دور -People will be queuing to book their holidays inspace.

- queue = line طابور (يقف فيه الناس واحدا تلو الآخر) -There is a long queue in front of the ticket office

- row صف (ثابت) - Our house is the first row.

- row صف (من الناس أو الأشياء جنبا إلى جنب) - I’d like to sit in the second row.

25- such a / an + صفة + اسم مفرد - Ali is such a naughty boy.

26-The + صفة / ظرف درجة ثانية + جملة كاملة , the صفة / ظرف درجة ثانية + جملة كاملة كلما ........ كلما

تستخدم هذه الصيغة في التغير في النسب بين الاشياء

- The older you get, the more experienced you become. - The more you train, the fitter you get.

27- a four-week mission مهمة لمدة اربع اسابيع

- لاحظ أن four-week عبارة عن صفة مركبة و الصفة لا تجمع و لذلك لم نجمع كلمة week

- astrologer منجــــــــــــم - The person who predicts the future.

31- how + adj + be + subject ?سؤال - How good are you at science? - I am quite good.

- how + adj + subject + be! تعجب - How good you are at science !

32- expert (in- on) خبير (متخصص في مجال علمي - experienced ( adj) لديه خبرة

33- sports رياضات – رياضى - In space, tourists can do weightless sports. - I want to join a sports club.

28- make + مفعول + مصدر - The coach made يجعل – يجبر him do the exercise again.

- فى حالة المبنى للمجهول نستخدم (مصدر to + )

- be made + to + مصدر - He was made to do the exercise again

1 - Expressing opinions with reasons

- It seems to me that	- It seems to me that Elahli is the best team

- In my opinion /view…as…	- In my opinion, we should visit him at home as he is ill.

2 - Agreeing and disagreeing

Agreeing with an opinion Disagreeing with an opinion.
