Making complaints / Предъявление претензий

- I’m afraid that you didn’t respect the date of delivery.

- The goods you delivered were damaged.

- Поставленные вами товары повреждены.

- We’re sorry to say that we’re dissatisfied with the consignment.

- I have to tell you that you didn’t keep to the terms / the conditions were not met.

Apologizing / Извинения

- Please accept our apologies.

- Примите наши извинения.

- I really must apologize.

- Я должен извиниться.

- I quite understand how you feel.

- Я понимаю, что вы чувствуете.

- We’ll look into the matter immediately.

- Мы рассмотрим этот вопрос немедленно.

- I’ll see to it personally.

- Я лично прослежу за этим.

- I assure you that it won’t happen again.

- Я уверяю вас, что этого больше не случится.

- The mistake will be rectified as soon as possible.

- Ошибка будет исправлена как можно скорее.

Practice

  • Put in order the dialogue below and translate it into Russian to check

yourself.

____ - Sure, but then we would have to raise the price.

____ - That sounds like a good offer but we need the goods in 2 weeks. Couldn’t you shorten the delivery period?

_____ - I see what you mean, but we do need these products this month. Could I make a suggestion? If you deliver in 3 weeks? We could discuss another order for the coming season.

_____ - Fine, if you could confirm this in writing. I’ll talk to our legal department and ask them to set up the contract.

_____ - Delivery will be in 6 weeks with a discount of 2% if you place your order this month.

II. Complete the phrases below using the correct form of the words in

brackets.

Example: If you offer more flexible payment conditions, might / consider pay/ higher price. - If you offer more flexible payment conditions, then we might consider paying a higher price.

1. As long as engine performance improves by ten per cent, may / offer / price / 550,000 dollars per unit.
