1. Объединение предложений как прием перевода

Объединение высказываний (компрессия)– это такой же повсеместно используемый прием перевода, как и членение. Объединение двух предложений в одно не только позволяет сократить текст, но и значительно облегчает само его восприятие.

Прием объединения высказываний также может использоваться, когда переводчик опускает информацию, которую автор текста-оригинала сообщает для англоязычной аудитории.

Среди многочисленных причин объединения высказываний чаще всего встречаются следующие:

1	наличие между высказываниями тесной смысловой связи		Demand for oil is 12 percent higher than it was a decade ago. Gas demand is 30 percent higher.	За последнее десятилетие спрос на нефть и газ увеличился на 12 и 30 процентов соответственно.

2	свертывание придаточного предложения в словосочетание с отглагольным существительным	Свертывание главного состава сложноподчиненного предложения или одного из подчиненных предложений в слово или словосочетание. Речь идет о группе высказываний, представленных сложноподчиненным предложением. Иногда сохранение главного предложения или одного из придаточных противоречит нормам русского языка или публицистического стиля речи. В этом случае они свертываются в словосочетание или даже отдельное слово.	There are many things (that) we do not know.	Многое нам не известно.
		Чаще всего главный состав сохраняется, а свертыванию подвергается придаточное предложение. Это связано с тем, что в русском языке существует тенденция к опредмечиванию действий и широкому использованию отглагольных существительных. В результате, проявлением этой тенденции в переводе служит прием номинализации, преобразования английских глаголов и глагольных форм в отглагольные существительные.	When all the mergers are completed, the four largest companies will account for no more than 12 percent of world oil supply.
